It's cool, but it probably does belong in Out of Pod. But I don't see why CCP should feel threatened about players bringing ideas and concepts to the forum, so no need to act like the OP is out of bounds on that action.

So someone needs to come along and invent / discover a way to make a new material that is resistant. Then maybe a new class of ships? atmospheric flying ~ this has been a dream of many games/gamers for a very long time. The wonderful thing about lore in a fiction environment is that it's changeable.

By the way: would also like to see a 'lore fix' for the capsule problem because I'd like to see the development of ship bridges and flight crews a-la-Railroad Tycoon managers method (virtual crew with their own statistics that can be traded, upgraded, fired and killed in battles where you lose your ships).. something that can't happn if we all continue to insist that the only safe way to fly sub-warp is in a pod. Meanwhile: no pods for Oculus Rift fighters wtf?

We fly around in a pod mentally linked to a ship that is basically a frame and a lump of nanites.
We make, at minimum, 3000 times as much as a normal human.. Planets really dont do a dang thing for us. They are poor, spatially locked, and limited. We are space beings.

Sure, it'll cost you a PLEX for every one though, because that seems to be the route that CCP are determined to go down.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I would love to see more interaction with planets, maybe even make a system in which detailed planets can be used by both our ships and Dust characters. How awesome would it be for our ships to be physically in a battlefield and deliver decisive warbarge strikes!

Sadly, doing this would probably cost us a raid tier...

Crap, wrong game! Quick, somebody play me off!

Thing is Jonah, an Amarr cruiser or something similar did ground support inside the atmosphere and just above the surface in the EVE novel Templar One. It got shot down by ground fire, if I remember right. (The question in my mind was, how does a ship designed for 0 Gs and no atmospheric drag stay airborne at the surface? No matter.) Anyway, seems New Eden science found a solution to the Trit and atmosphere problem over the years to DUST field clone transfers.

Anyway-- single shard server, rendering 3D landscapes... horrible lag?
