You'll find that using bombs solo is less fun (and effective) than you think.

Lots of good material but I'm not sure I agree with a lot of the bomber stuff. They seem to have adapted their bomber runs to standard fleet tactics rather than adapting their tactics to bombers.

For example, the fly-by. It looks to me like they have an align, bomb, align, warp situation going on there. You warp from alpha to a tactical, align to the gate, deploy, and then warp to beta, which is not in line with your current alignment.

This seems to me like a questionable tactic. In bomb runs you want to be exposed a minimal amount of time. Thus you want to land in correct alignment to deploy immediately (deploy->align tactic) or land with the target fleet between yourself and a target celestial at range (align->deploy tactic). Both of these keep you on the grid for a minimal amount of time, which drastically reduces your chances of death.

Now, if instead of bombs you were doing a torp run I can see that as probably working with this fly-by tactic. You would then be operating as a sniper fly-by fleet rather than doing a bomb run. You could have sig damp ewar support to reduce the opponent's ability to ever target you (since you're a frig gang) and deliver a massive amount of pain.

So I'm skeptical of using this particular tactic in bombing runs. I'd be willing to give it a go though and given the chance may at that.
