I just returned to Eve after a year away. I did a lot of null sec exploration in a Buzzard last year. Now I would like to try running data and relic sites in wormholes. But I need something that can destroy rats, right? So, something that can destroy rats AND explore. What do I use?

Well there are also the same relic / data sites in C1-C3 holes that are in null. Sansha, Serpentis etc that have no rats.

Stratios works well. Been a while since I last did it, but it worked fine.

In WHs you will find two types of relic/data sites. You can find normal Null-Sec sites. These are named after the pirate factions, eg 'Central Serpentis Survey Site' is a Serpentis site. These have no rats. Zero. So you can run them in a normal exploration ship, a covert ops, astero, even just an inty if you want.

The other type you will find are Sleeper relic/data sites. These are often named something to do with the past, eg 'Forgotten Perimeter Habitation Coils'. They are fairly easy to tell apart from the Null-Sec (pirate) sites just by the name. These sites DO have rats. They have sleepers in them, which can be a reasonable challenge. I would recommend something like a Stratios, Gila, Drake, any of the usual WH ratting ships.

One thing to note with these sites is that usually the loot from the relic/data cans is worthless. Most of the time they are run for the loot and salvage from the sleepers themselves. Occasionally these sites will have Talocan cans that can be opened that contain parts for T3 manufacturing which is sometimes worth it. Often the T3 parts take up quite a lot of cargo space though, so not always worth picking up if you're struggling with storage.

Hope that helps. Basically WHs can be good for exploring in a covert ops ship (or T1 exploration frig), just avoid the Sleeper sites until you're in a combat ship.

Can confirm that sleeper relic/data sites are no more nor less profitable than any other sleeper site. They are slightly harder than sleeper sites in the same wh combat wise. You should be able to do c1-3 combat sites in a stratios depending on your fit and skills and experience. T3 might be slightly better. Your biggest danger, as always in WHs, is other players.

The fact that Relic/Data hacking in Sleeper sites is entirely worthless always irks me.
