Good thing I have a bunker to hide in? It is happening so a better plan is to clearly communicate what features are most used. Although we do track what features are being used so we already have a good idea of what needs to be replaced feature wise before we remove the IGB.

I'm playing EvE on one monitor, fullscreen to get maximum space and performance. So whatever replaces the IGB must preserve the ability to open web content in a in-game window. That's all. But according to what I read so far, it's not planned to support fullscreen/one monitor setups anymore.

I'm my own NPC alt.

they day igb is gone is the day i quit after ~10 years of playing. and no you can't have my stuff, i'd rather give it to friends than random people.

Hmm.
When the IGB is removed, the option for Fixed Window should become the default state instead of Fullscreen. This will smooth the experience for many users who don't understand the issues video mode switching has on their computer. New users may believe that EVE pauses when it's in the background. (Don't laugh.) Spotty hardware may freeze. Used to happen to me constantly, hence why I only MMO with my desktop visible.

It is entirely possible for crashes or freezes to occur when Fullscreen video modes are switched from 3D to desktop. I was trying the beta launcher today, and my video modes were going crazy.

and if you disable the promt and click on a link you dont know you deserve everything you get :P

I didn't read this whole topic yet so sorry for eventually repost, but if the IGB is removed in future : why not allow the EVE client to identify URL and allow to open it with the user's default browser, like any software (for example : Doc / PDF readers or even the EVE launcher itself).

Directly or thru a right cliclk menu. And most of eve players have at least a Dual Screen configuration, so in the majority of case this would not it be annoying Cool

Hmm, not sure if I understand this reply ... maybe you should describe a bit further how you plan to remove the IGB without breaking one monitor setups?

I don't think the vast majority of EvE players uses 2+ monitors.

Originally when I posted this I didn't have a good understanding of CREST and to be fair never had time to look for the dev blog you mentioned so haven't learnt much more. that being said based on what you have said I dont have a huge issue with losing the IGB anymore, so long as I can open my URLs. And again for your sake why not make a little disclaimer message that pops up like on the forums so that you can say We are not the owners of this link and not taking any responsibility for what happens.


That way no risk to eve itself and only fools

To be fair most people i know (and ok I live in nullsec where pilots are often flying 4 clients at a time) but you could always run a windowed client and alt tab just not good if your in combat !

To be fair most people i know (and ok I live in nullsec where pilots are often flying 4 clients at a time) but you could always run a windowed client and alt tab just not good if your in combat !

Ofc there are always bad workarounds for missing/removed features ... but if I would ship software with a regression like that, our customers would riot.

EDIT: I do not want to retain the outdated IGB browser, but the interaction design connected to it. How this is done, is CCP's job to find out and implement.
