Personalised Warning System

Feature:

Personalisable pop-up warnings similar to those already given when undocking in combat, going into lowsec, and going GCC.

How it would work:

In a similar way to the warnings we already have, players would be able to create their own warnings to come up when specific criteria are met.

For example when jumping into hi-sec with low sec status:

"You're about to jump into hi-sec, and you're a pirate. Are you thinking straight?"

Or when about to undock:

"There is a very high probability that you will lose this ship... Do you promise not to cry to your corp mates if you do?"

These messages could of course be whatever you type into the box when setting up the warning.

Conclusion:

I can't imagine this being a particularly difficult feature to implement, and the value players would be provided with would be substantial.

Thoughts?

Simple idea, and easy enough to do. I would love to have a highsec warning when jumping in flashy red from lowsec.

Daily bump.

Any dev feedback? Is this feasible?

This one should be part of the tutorials at the get go...

though should read:

"By undocking, you're flagging yourself for PvP. There are no PvE areas in EVE."

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

+1 for being warned when going into hostile hisec. I almost got killed a few times because I wandered into Amarr hisec by mistake.

sounds good, but first get rid of the popups (e.g. by minimizing them to a dedicated location for notifications)

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Great - it sounds like there could be real demand for this feature, and it seems simple enough to implement.

How can we get this moved along? Is there a standard way to do it?

Good idea if it could be implemented quite easily.

Bump - still need some dev input.

Seems there's definitely demand for this feature.

Slight counter-proposal from me, feel free to ignore it:

Vastly increase the number of avaliable popups. Have one for almost every situation; undocking in each sec, travelling between sec levels - one for each direction, eg lowsec -> null sec, another for null ->low, travelling into a KOS system, etc etc.

Have another options tab just for popups, allowing players to customise which popups they wish to activate. This allows a huge range of popups to be avaliable, but also makes it easy to remove any ones you do not wish to have, to avoid people being bombarded with popus if they don't want them.

I'm not sure about the custom text, I really don't think that adds anything to the game, and would make it harder to implement, I would stick with a set of CCP default text warnings.

I think that's a fair point about the customisable text; the point with it was to be able to set the conditions for the popup to come up. One example might be a popup reminding you that your cargo hold is 80% full while mining, or similar.

Ultimately the point is to have a wider range of warnings available - I think it would be workable to essentially widen the range of warnings currently available, but I think the real value would come from allowing full customisation of the warnings.

This could maybe include timed warnings - calendar reminders etc.

I think there's real value here; we just need to find out how workable it is. Devs?

Chinese Aura please :D

I think more customisation can always be a good thing as long as it's for free and doesn't go into something like the nex store.

Definitely agree with that; this should be a core feature of the game, not something we have to pay for.

Sounds reasonable to me. When [user] does [action] confirm [list of conditions] for permission.

Not sure how silly you want to get though:

- Are you sure you want to orbit at 500m? Your guns may not track!
- Do you really want to open this jetcan? Don't you have enough garbage already?
- Launch Drones? You're just going to have them dock up again in a minute!

Considering how often I orbit too close and lose my drones, not to mention how much crap I have un my hangar, all those warnings sound like they'd be of benefit to me!
