Indeed we have a trailer for Crucible available! You can watch it here, the according feedback thread can be found here.

I recommend to crank up the volume a few notches for the full experience.

Wub wub wub.

It's a nice trailer for showcasing all the shiny new Crucible stuff, but a lot of people miss the "realistic" style of the Dominion trailer. It would be cool if there were a new one of those sometime soon, using all the new Crucible graphics.

oh, you poor, young soul...

they did it in the style of Eve Never Fades (an '05 trailer). It's considered by the vets to be one of the "best" trailers that have been put out by CCP. Crucible has been (in many ways) a mea culpa by CCP to the vets for how bad they let things get in the last 2 years.

edit --> @CCP -- keep up the good work, just keep in mind we're still watching what you do over what you say Blink

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Sigh, I will never be as good a vet as the really old vets... Sad

I wasn't saying that I personally wished it were more like Dominion. I like the Crucible trailer. I was just echoing the general feeling I got from it.

Goes to show that you can't please everyone.

I, for one, like variety. Movie-quality trailers with lots of polish and additional rendering have their appeal. As do awesome clips of actual gameplay.

They also have their uses. The former is very good for showcasing plot changes and providing a dramatic narrative. You wouldn't get Kuvekai commuting flesh to ash otherwise. The latter is great for capturing dedicated gamers who are blase about flashy CGI sequences and go straight for meaty in-game shots. I think it would actually be good for a release to have a bit of both.

Speaking of which, CCP really needs to update the trailers on Steam. The steam version still reads as EVE: Incarna. Also, they missed out on the whole Steam holiday sale marathon, which is becoming a big deal. (I imagine the same is true for other download services)

I'm not that much more of a vet than you Blink.

My comment was not intended to be a shot at you personally (OK, the "you poor young soul" was) ... it's just the general "feeling" I get from players in certain brackets can get tiring...

'03 - '06 --> "the vets". Generally telling everyone to HTFU about something that at some point was a hell of a lot harder (I'm looking at you learning skills and skill queue). Most of them have ties to nullsec alliances.
'07(when I started) - '09 --> GENERALLY get EvE, will "know" about the crazy **** that's happened in the past in fair detail (m0o, T20, etc). Probably started the game because of hearing about SOMETHING badass happening (T20, m0o, goons disbanding BoB, etc). Regardless of whether or not they completely agree with "the vets", they will generally point out bad ideas as such (e.g. PLEX for remap). Some of us have ties to nullsec alliances.
'10 onward --> Seem to think they're more "entitled" to getting things ... e.g. "I need moar SP faster because I'm never gonna catch up!" or "I need a longer skill queue!" or "There needs to be a PVE server!" or (my favourite) "what's up with Incarna?!". The crazy **** that happened in the past is ... apparently irrelevant.

Obviously some (most?) of what I'm attributing to the '10 players was probably also said by the crowd that started in 05 or 06 or 07 or (OK, I think you get the point).

Until this one, my favourite trailers were:

1. Eve Never Fades
2. Trinity
3. Dominion
4. Tyrannis

Crucible has since taken the #3 spot Big smile

Since this thread is about favorite trailers, the Revelations trailer has always been the one that draws me back into the game, even though nobody seems to listen to the two phrases launched towards the end within today's gaming universe. Ahhh, just reading about those epic battles back then was enough to draw in even the most pacifistic of people.

Hmmm, forums are not allowing me to link at the moment, so here is the cut and paste link:

That's actually not bad. These brackets sort of happen when I go PvPing, too. I have no qualms about engaging above my class with 2010 and younger players, while I would be wary about engaging a 2005 Rifter in an AF.

o_O

dammit, now I'm gonna have to re-watch all of them and re-work my list. Thanks P

@ Petrus -- You probably wouldn't wanna be engaging that '05 even if they were in a noobship. Blink

Hey, I've solo'd a 2005 Crusader in my Malediction. One of the proudest moments of my life.

Grumble, grumble... making me dig up old killmails. Here you go. Azn didn't actually interfere, he had just shot Balinn earlier and missed. Edit: And yes this was a pre-rocket-buff Malediction.

I've learned the hard way you can't please everyone with videos. You pretty much just have to go for the Wow Factor sometimes. :)

Lol nice.

don't have any stories nearly as good as that, I'm afraid. Oops

yes but it was crap... it was basically recycled videos from players merged into one video

I have also solo'd a Taranis with a post-buff Malediction. Same deal with interference. My friends were watching on grid, and flipping out on comms as to how the hell I was winning.

There was another time I almost solo'd a Loki, too, but a Legion appeared to help him at the last minute. You don't mess with the Malediction. Big smile

This is a bit off-topic though.
