Shortly after joining eve on my main who is yet to be a year old I trained up my stealth bomber skills (5 months ago to be exact) and today I stumbled upon a offline pos and blew up about 200M isk worth of space junk (also being one of my first killmails where i wasnt the one on the victims box)

After 5 months I finally put the skills to a use, would i say the training was worth it, i personally wouldnt.

So now that question is moved on to you

What skills have you spent so long on training up and then when you finally used it was either disappointed with the results or never even used after training it (like training up leadership and never being the fleet leader)

It haunts my every waking moment...

But seriously I could go on for days, but I've been playing so long that I'm sure to accumulate more skills I'll rarely use.

Just say NO to Dailies

Ouch. Expected Defender Missile 5. Several people have made the same mistake as you.

There is a whole thread on skills NOT to train to level 5.

I can't say I regret any skill I've trained, as I only train skills that improve my EXISTING gameplay.

I'm currently on a quest to complete as many skill categories as possible. As you can imagine, I've had to train some painful skills to get that done. Out of those, the following were probably the worst in terms of time spent and actual usefulness:
- Fighter Bombers 5 (doesn't fly supers)
- Fighters 5 (meh, at least I can fly a carrier)
- Drug Production 5 (was going to set up for space meth, never did)
- Outpost Construction (soooo long, probably never use this)
- Basically anything beyond level 4 in Trade (was going to start doing some station trading, laziness won)

Many skills I thought were rubbish, and many prob are but at 208mil sp I am currently just thinking, meh; i'll train them all anyway so would prob end up with it at some point anyway.

who would not want a char with titan lvl 5, carrier 5, dread 5 and want to polish it off with mining upgrades lvl 5 and scordite processing lvl 5? totally go together lol.

I immediately imagine someone in a titan just mining away and a supercarrier behind him using 10 t2 mining drones

How about tactical shield manipulation? I know training to the lower levels can be helpful in some cases, but level 5 is a lot of training for an actual debug (unless you always active shield tank)

At 51 million SP I don't regret anyting other than Armor Layering trained to 1, which ruins my ramming ability by 5%.

I expect everything else to be useful.

I am a firm believer in "delayed gratification" when it comes to skill training.

However,I have to confess that it was a bit of a shock for me when the Jump Fatigue was implemented before I could finish all the carrier support skills. I loved the Jump Fatigue, don't get me wrong but I expected the Jump Reactivation Delay be allowed to pushed aside or ignored for the first 3-4 jumps and after that preventing the player to jump for a long while(making it similar to overheating a module). At least that is how I would implement the system.

Other than that, the recent Gila and the earlier Ishtar drone normalization made me ponder why I maxed out the drone skills.

And don't worry,if a skill is truly redundant ; CCP will most likely remove it and refund the skillpoints.

Stealth bombers are awesome. You're doing it wrong.

To be fair the description that was used for this skill was very misleading.
