Wormholes and scanning.

Why is it that when we scan, combat and relic sites can be seen by all but wormholes are not shared?

On another forum there was a discussion about selling wormhole locations. Are some wormholes permanent? Where? In nullsec only? I can't see the purpose of attempting to sell a wormhole location if most of them expire in less than 24 hours. Yes, yes, I know some last longer but I have visited around 50 wormholes already and I have not encountered one that will last more than 24 hours.

The sellers place a probing char in the wh to find exits until they have a buyer, or until they give up selling it

GM Guard > I must ask you not to use the petition option like this again but i personally would finish the chicken sandwich first so it won´t go to waste. The spaghetti will keep and you can use it the next time you get hungry. Best regards.

The Wormhole entrance/exit despawns within 24hrs. The same WH will then reopen someone else in new eden.

If you for example scanned down a WH and left yourself logged off in that WH for a few days - You log in and scan down the next exit. Voila. Same WH different entrance/exit.

WH's have "statics" which means they will always connect to a certain area of space or certain type of WH.

for example a Class 1 WH might have a hisec static which means that WH will ALWAYS have at least 1 connection to hi security space.

Hmm, but that same wormhole could re-spawn in ANY hi-sec system or does it remain in the same region?

Also, OP, some wormhole static combinations are very lucrative. A carebear corp would love a C2 with highsec statics. A pvp corp might prefer having low and/or null statics. So if you find the right one that's uninhabited, it can be worth selling.

I automatically scan each time I enter a wormhole and none them have been uninhabited. I haven' counted but I've entered around 50.

Also often when I open up the scan screen, there are already locations listed in them that other people have obviously scanned down.

I never see previously scanned wormholes by other explorers. Also the first time I located a wormhole I announced it in local. They said no one else could see that wormhole unless I shared a bookmark.

So - other sites are shared in a system but wormholes are not. Why is this?

The only time bookmarks are automatically "shared" (not counting random delays) is when all parties are part of the same corporation. When the other ships show up in those areas, they've scanned them down.

If you were exploded but didn't see probes, it's possible that someone had already scanned those sites before you came along. They used dscan to spot you and determine which site you were in, and then warped to the bookmark they'd already made. (Or they're really skilled at probing and you weren't dscanning in a paranoid enough fashion.)

What a dumb and horrible comment you have made.

Combat sites often show up on the scan grid and I didn't scan them. Just because you don't understand something does not mean you need to post insults.
