How do I get started doing FW?

Hey Y'all, I just finish my training for the Manticore and was looking into getting into FW but I don't have a clue on how to get started. Can any of you fellow mates give me a hand on how to get started in the best action pack venture in eve?

Some questions come to mind like, can I stay in my NPC corp or do I need to join a Player corp? If yes to that question, what are the requirements for joining a FW corp, like is TS3 needed?

How do I determine the best faction to run level 4 FW missions for (my preference is for Gallente)?

I've read that running missions for Gallente sucks because the NPC's will shoot missiles at you and you'll take a lot of damage. I'm pretty sure Caldari NPC use ECM as well.

Anyways, the requirements to join are almost ZERO. Like seriously. You could spend 3 minutes training a character and you'll be ready to d-plex systems in whatever faction you want. Takes literally minutes.

Takes a lot longer than 3 minutes to learn the skills necessary to be helpful in PVP to be an asset to your chosen faction.

I recommend that you check out http://www.factionwarfare.com/ <-- there's video guides up there somewhere on how to farm FW missions.

You should also read this http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Factional_Warfare

Most of your questions can be answered by simply reading stuff on those two pages.

All you need to do now is dock up at a station that is owned by your chosen faction, and on the right hand side there's a button that says "Faction warfare" .... click on it, and then click "enlist myself"

Bam. You're in FW. It's THAT easy. Once your'e in, you'll have access to a "militia" chat channel and you can ask questions there. Be warned though, a lot of tishlords in FW don't give a rat's ass about newbros posting stuff in the militia chat, so it may take awhile before you find someone more experienced to take you under their wing.

I'm not enlisted in FW right now so I won't be able to mentor you. Good luck. I recommend you find a mentor.

Telling you I'm rolling my eyes simply won't convey just how hard they're rolling.

Picture Fred Durst, in the midde of the ocean, on a boat caught in a perfect storm, with a bag of weed and some skins. He's eating a Wagon Wheel.

Even that doesn't come close.

Hello original poster.

Please let me provide a translation as to how your post comes across to some of the faction warfare community.

"Hi Everyone, I'm an alt looking to take advantage of Faction Warfare and make easy ISK. My contribution to my chosen faction will be to run missions and then cash in on LP thus devaluing that factions LP/ISK ratio and hurting the ISK generating ability of my chosen factions pvpers. Which faction can you convince me to inflict myself on? Oh and by the way a free guide to which of my chosen factions LP store items generate decent ISK would also be swell."

If the above is not the case then I apologise but it is how it comes across, therefore you will not get many enthusiastic responses.

So your point is?

People do what they like to do in Eve. I like to grind for isk to fatten me wallet so it's not my problem when most people would prefer to PVP and stay broke.

My point is it might be more appropriate to post in the Missions and Complexes sub forum to get the advice you want.

The PvPers who hang out here will know the answer to your questions but most of them will not be inclined to answer. They tend to help pilots who will contribute to the PvP effort.
