unless you say it is, then no one can disagree with you (thanks to the previously mentioned heathen). Marsha is correct here though

Dear marshmallow ... I have posted in numerous topics this evening and your posts have been hardly noteworthy to be honest. Just check my posting history.

Yeh, I just did look at your posts for today. Calm down, dear Straight

It is by the people whose interests align with mine, ie historians, classicists, archaeologists. Obviously not heathens on the EvE-o forums, but v0v I can deal with that. Some of you collect warhammer figurines. And LoTR chess sets. I bet some of you wear spider man pyjamas to bed and have an interest in Marvel comics. See, we can all be mean about collectibles, but nerds are way more amusing to pick on. Tell me about your Transformer limited edition Megatron, go on, I dare you.

Whenever you like, no rush. Purple sock related EvE artwork in limited runs might be highly sought after in OOPE.

What if we're all in Inception though? Does anybody have a coin or something we can use? Which reality is real?

Tbh that first Metal Gear Solid for the ps1 was like one of the greatest games of all freaking time.
MGS Solid Snake is 100x better video game than eve is for sure.
I just cant make people loos their allowance and lunch money in Mgs and make them cry and rage so eve wins on that front

Some people and their collectoring fanaticism... Why would one pay so much money for a scale model?

It depends on your disposable income and your level of interest I suppose. I went through a numismatic phase when I had some cash to spare so instead of buying loads of different types, saved up and spent £500 on a Larissa coin. It's finer than all of the ones listed there (similar to the bottom one), is properly certified and is unlikely to drop in value. I spent a while researching Greek coins and that is one of the more affordable/accessible, plus it is a 2400 year old piece of art. It's tiny in comparison with the Nyx model - but so what? I wasn't paying by weight. I didn't discuss it with anyone because it was my money to spend at the time. Although I showed a friend (who spends £500 on handbags, using her hubbies CC) and she sneered, then showed my mum and she thinks it's gorgeous. Doesn't mean I splurge like that all the time on crap, or have a house stuffed full of artwork. But what's the point of working if you don't occasionally spend your money on things that please you? Each to their own v0v

Doesn't bother me that this thing is pricey, and I don't get what the point is in whining about it. If it was an unlimited run, I could understand concerns. I hope some cheaper stuff is released ongoing, but tbf you can get the CE, musterbrand stuff or a poster so it's not like there's nothing else available.

Although if I could commission Ralph to make me an EvE thing... or any player, that'd be cool too. I'd rather buy EvE art from players whose designs are approved by CCP for release - like with the Rixx posters.

Since when is a regular coin a piece of art?

Unless I am missing something, the coins on that page are over 2,000 years old and in exceptional condition, hardly "regular coins". They also have pleasing designs on them -- pleasing to those who like such things, anyway.

(Fan of such things speaking here, would gladly hang a collection of ancient coins in my home)

I dont know what that company was thinking. I used to play. Have a wicked custom Chaos Orks army where most everything aside from generic boyz are kitbashed. Good marketing says have limited flagship ones like these, but make money off entry level stuff to entice people for the big ticket. Start with more affordable smaller scale and cost ones, then more people saving for the big ones.

Edit. I think I got a good summary for this convo. Many of us are just jealous and would love a scale Nyx. Rage not so much at price. Heck, if we had cash, everybody here posting probably would get it without a thought. Just upset there is no more available and reasonable version such as smaller scale, etc? I would love a 10cm version on a stand. Bigger if we can get tiny frigate sets and build a tabletop gaming fleet. Battlefleet gothic with eve anybody?

I thought I was on to something but already posted and in concept/testing phase.

A few suggestions:

1. Make the base in the likeness of the station hanger pad for each race of ship.
2. Make basic hulls (without LED's) for the less financially endowed. Maybe the option between a standard base or a hanger pad base.
3. Offer first batch of hulls to AT victors if the schedule and pricing permits. Possibly one of the AT in game ship prize hulls. Let them tell the community what they think. Thats one hell of a special edition trophy! IMO
4. And for S&Gs a purchasable selection of interchangeable weapon hard-points on applicable hulls.

I'm glad they are considering this type of product. These would be awesome collectors items (hint, hint) and (for me) an enjoyable item to purchase. I'm pretty experienced in modelling so I would put my corp logo on whatever hull I like that becomes available.

This product could very likely entice many veteran unsubbed accounts to resub by awesomeness and nostalgia alone. May I also mention bring in new subscribers.

To have a scale model of my favorite hull floating on my desk would make the nerd in me squeal. Lol
