Corp/Alliance Run Tournament Feature

The basic idea is a feature that lets players setup and run a tournament and set rules for these tournaments which can be enforced by the game itself rather than players trying their best to make sure all involved are following the rules.

For example let's say I wanted to run a tournament.

Some options may include:

-location & time
-ship types allowed + the ability to take out one or more ships from a category (e.g. T1 Frig Tounament – No Tristans)
-public/corp only/alliance only/invite only
-entry fee/no entry fee
-1st prize : isk/items
-2nd prize: isk/items
-3rd prize ect : isk/items

Restrictions options:
-no rigs/t1 rigs only
-t1 modules only/ t2 mods only/any rigs allowed
-standard ammo only
-implants allowed/certain implants only/no implants (denied access to tournament if implants are present, not allowed to install implants while enrolled in the tournament)
-boosters allowed/not allowed
-No OGB

One forced rule should be: Cannot join / setup a tournament while at War If war is declared while in tournament any effected parties will be removed from said tournament and any entrée fee refunded.

There are obviously more options you could & should include but this is just to give an idea.

There's nothing stopping you from organizing this.

It doesn't need an in-game specific menu/interface.

I know that, it would just be convenient if there was a menu interface to go through and game enforced rules, not quite sure how I would enforce no boosters. And no implants would be a pain to enforce too.

Search for the dojo thread, idea was praposed by a dev in his last couple of days as a "goodbye troll" the community (myself included) lost their collective **** about it.

Short answer is no, the long one involves tortches and pitchforks.

I agree it would be hard to enforce. I also think it would be quite hard to code, and would pretty much be instanced PVP, which I'm opposed to. I don't want to see CCP put any time or money into creating this when it can be done by the players sandbox style. And yes cheating would be a potential problem, just like it would be in the real world.

CCP would have to code:
All the menu/interface for joining the tournament
A locked location that only the specified participants could enter, for each round
A way to check the participants ship fittings and implants, and deny them from entering if they don't meet requirements
A way to log the winner of each fight and add it to the tourny interface
and probably countless other things that I wouldn't even think of because I'm not a coder

This is strictly something that YOU the player should organize if you want to see happen.

Yeah, this sort of thing gets a lot of grief from the 'leet PvP crowd because they are afraid a consensual PvP arena will be more fun and engaging for the majority of the players and deny them gank targets in open space.

Your bitter is delicious.

That being said you can use the search function and this guys name fot find a lot of reasons for CCP to not provide for the meek and / or lazy. This is one of those things where after the 50th offering it isn't suddenly going to be a good idea.

I'll plug my last corp. Hidden Agenda. They used to have corp brawls. They did it using corp mail. There were some pretty good sized melee's. No third party ever interfered. If you want to do this in easy mode, join Hidden Agenda and then just ask and it will all be taken care of for you.

Well if a crew organizes their own tournament and run it in empire they'd be pretty safe as well. It be the last place code would be at at any rate.....couldn't help myself lol.

Seriously, it is not hard to enforce rules, it just take time to implement it right.

French half-noob.

Non, je ne suis pas gentil.

It's pretty easy to enforce no booster. Make everyone in the fight be in fleet. Don't have a fleet booster.

Seriously folks, these things are really really easy to set up without changing eve.
