That's strange. Could you try selecting the 'E' in the top left corner ( just left of 'EVE Launcher -BETA) and select refresh. The Launcher should automatically keep track of what build it should run, but I do wonder if there is some kind of hangup going on there.

A thing that I particularly like: The launcher window remembers its position on the screen. \o/

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

1) Move the launcher Information from HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\CCP\EVEONLINE into a config file inside the launcher folder or under the Users EVE folder under Documents.

Reason being that eve if you delete EVERYTHING file wise, if you reinstall the launcher, it remembers the previous location of the "SharedCache". Moving it to a file inside the Users' documents also allows per Windows User settings to remain.

2) Move core_user and core_char files from the holy crap long appdata location to under the Users EVE folder under Documents.

Reason: Every day you have tons of posts on the forums, reddit, in corp chats, etc asking how to do something with the eve settings and its always a pain in the ass for us tech-savvy folk to explain how to even navigate to the files, let alone begin messing with them. Also would make backup up EVE easier.

3) Bring back some form of mobile / non-install (/END /LUA:OFF) functionality. I want to have a single folder called EVE that can be placed on a flash drive and contains my screenshots, overview YAML file, my fitting XMLs, my core_char and core_user files, and remembers all of my settings for the launcher.

Reason being 100% better user experiences all across the board for pretty much everyone (except the devs who have to recode it all, sorry ill buy you more pizzas). People can play at work without installing, take their install to a friend's house to show them EVE, quickly backup and restore their EVE files while testing things like NEW LAUNCHERS...

-- TLDR: Make the EVE folder contain all the EVE stuff, instead of using the registry, the EVE documents folder, the CCP Appdata folder, the other CCP appdata folder, etc. FLASH DRIVE EVE VERSION ALL FILES NEEDED 1 PLACE.

Was going to quote and +1 the other post about moving everything to \Documents\EVE\, but this also gets a +1 from me... I want to STAB programs that dont use a config FILE and make me hunt through the registry!

+1 to both options, aka HAVING AN OPTION!

Bug? or intended feature™?

Windows 10

Build 969236

Registry settings are not changed for LOG location when SharedCache location is changed

Originally my SharedCache was located at C:\Games\EVE ONLINE\

i changed the location via the top left E icon in the launcher > SharedCache option > MOVE

C:\Games\EVE

The registry location instantly changed under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\CCP\EVEONLINE however the location of the logs KEY remained using the C:\games\EVE ONLINE folder as seen in the screenshot.

+1 from me again. Consolidation of EvE files would be a massive boon for everyone, tech-savvy and non-tech alike. Sure this is not just a launcher thing I'm sure, but please consider this CCP.

I agree that settings storage in EVE is a bit of a mess at the moment, but fixing that is beyond the scope of the new launcher. We do plan to add tools to the launcher to manage settings, however, and once my work on the launcher is done I hope to have some time to improve settings management overall.

Are you high on #CCPizza?? <3

Awesome, I really hope that you have the time or are given the additional time to fix this for us. Out of interest I just looked through my AppData/local folder and my current CCP folder is 1.94GB. This is the largest folder by far in there and since I use a SSD RAID array for my "windows installation" I would like that space back! Being able to move that data to my 6TB HDD RAID array would make me happy beyond belief <3

I've been using this for a couple of days without issue until downtime today. Now when I open the launcher i get a plain black box on my screen that is unresponsive to all input. I have to terminate it from the task manager.

The debug log in the folder (d:\evelauncher in my case) contains the following

[1008/182750:ERROR:resource_bundle.cc(691)] Failed to load C:\Qt\5.5\msvc2013\qtwebengine_resources.pak
Some features may not be available.
[1008/182750:WARNING:resource_bundle.cc(304)] locale_file_path.empty()
[1008/182750:ERROR:resource_bundle.cc(691)] Failed to load C:\Qt\5.5\msvc2013\qtwebengine_resources.pak
Some features may not be available.
[1008/182750:WARNING:resource_bundle.cc(304)] locale_file_path.empty()

The qtwebengine file above is in the same folder as the application itself, The regerenced c:\qt... folder does not exist, leading me to believe this is a config issue somwhere (possibly in the registry?)

The issue persists through uninstall and reinstall of the application. My old sisi and TQ launchers work fine (but are slower to load today than previous)

This is under windows 10

Does the Beta Launcher use the following paths...

C:\Users\X\AppData\Local\CCP\EVEONLINE
C:\Users\X\AppData\Roaming\CCP\EVEONLINE

Because the current launcher and game already use...

C:\Users\X\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE

This is so the old and beta launchers don't booger one another up, correct?

If so, when the Beta launcher replaces the old launcher, will you consolidate the paths to use one folder, instead of the current 3 folders?

---

Also, Thank you for download on demand, SharedCache sharing, and all servers up to date 24/7. having separate folders for each servers' EXE cleaned up the appdata complexity just a tad and any little bit helps.

Example:

From This - C:\Users\X\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_games_eve_online_tranquility_tranquility
To This - C:\Users\X\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_games_eve_tq_87.237.38.200

The missing qtwebengine_resources.pak file should be unrelated to your issue as that file was missing since the first version of the new launcher.

However, a plain box, may be related to problems to access the web page(s) that build the new launcher's window contents, though. Check this page to find if you can't access the launcher page at all

I'm not having asny problems with the launcher so far and I think its a great improvement of the old one especially those that run more that one accout at a time.

I however would like to see a direct link to patch notes like in the old one.

Re: multiple monitors, I have all my accounts use separate settings. This preserves the chosen monitor (and also I can have things like for account 3 I can use settings 5 for monitor 2, and settings 6 to put the client on the TV).

So multiple monitors work great as long as you use separate settings.

Re: importing, you just copy the settings files from your existing client settings location in appdata\local\ccp\eve, and copy to the new folder in the same location.

If you currently run all accounts from the same client install, to preserve monitor settings etc you will have to go into the client settings save location in the above location, and copy the appropriate core_char_[char-ID].dat, and core_user_[account-ID].dat files to the new settings folder which the launcher makes.

So basically the launcher works brilliantly for managing multiple monitor settings with multiple accounts, you just might have to do a little prep work.

I can't see myself going back to the old launcher at all now - the new one is just so great and means I can actually get rid of all my other EVE client installs as well. Great work CCP this is awesome.

I am deeply confused about why there is any need for selection of the settings directory at all. Settings are already specific to accounts and characters, why is another layer on top of this necessary or desirable?

The OS I'm running is vista.
I know of others that also experience crashes with the same .dll and they also use Vista, so that may be the cause of the problems.

That's strange. Could you try selecting the 'E' in the top left corner ( just left of 'EVE Launcher -BETA) and select refresh. The Launcher should automatically keep track of what build it should run, but I do wonder if there is some kind of hangup going on there.

Did that several times but to no prevail, seems that the information in the shared cache gets not updated with todays (08.10.2015) patch.

Happens on all 6 accounts, regardles if I choose to launch them one by one or through multiple launch feature btw so it is not related to a specific account.

I had the incompatible build error just occur upon trying to log in today 8/10/15 for the first time (a minute ago). Kept repeating after multiple launcher restarts until I ran the launcher as "administrator". Win 10x64

the new launcher works very solid for me, using it for 2 days without issues. UI feels fast, loads quickly. updates worked fine too.

one little thing:
can you make it so that the username textbox remembers the last username you entered? I don't want it to store my pw locally so i don't check the remember all setting (for security reasons). Thats a small regression from the last launcher. All i had to do was to enter the pw and press launch. Now i have to enter user name plus pw.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value
