Hi all, I am very excited to announce that the School Of Applied Pew will be organizing open solo and team tournaments every month. The first solo tournament will take place in Adrallezoen, a 0.5 system with adjacent low-sec on November 5th at 19:00 EVE time. We would like to make this a tournament everyone can afford to join which is why we have decided to make the tournament free of any entry fees. However players will have to bring their own ships. Are you interested? Then please read the information below carefully and be sure to let all of your buddies know this is happening.

Player restrictions
No SP, corp, alliance, faction restrictions. But only a maximum of 128 players can join. The first to join are the first accepted.

Ship restrictions
T1 frigates (you will need 3 fitted frigates for the whole tournament).

Equipment restrictions
Meta 4 modules and below.

Prizes
1st place: 1 PLEX + gold medal
2nd place: 100m ISK + silver medal
3rd place: 50m ISK + bronze medal
(you will unfortunately need to briefly join our corp in order to claim the medal, but it is in no way mandatory)

Detailed tournament regulaltions [Under construction - links to docs.google.com]
SoaP Tournament Regulations
(Why am I posting these before I have even finished them? I am hoping for your input. If you have organized a tournament before or if you just have some good ideas, please let me know with a post or send me a message in game)

How to join
Log into Tranquility with the character of your choice, open EVE mail and click the "Add Mailing List" -button. Add the "School Of Applied Pew Open" -mailing list and send me (Sam Knob) a mail expressing your intention to join the tournament, I will then send you a confirmation mail containing the details of the tournament and invite you to the event via the EVE calendar (you need to accept the invitation in order to complete the enlistment).

Rating
Every time you win or lose a fight in one of our tournaments you will win or lose rating points. The rating system is based on the Elo-rating used in chess. You start out with a provisory rating of 1500 Elo points in 4 categories:

  • Solo frigate
  • Solo cruiser
  • 5v5 frigate
  • 5v5 cruiser

A website keeping track of your rating development will go up very soon (I am working on it).

How to help
We want to keep these tournaments as short as possible, which is why we need volunteers to work as arbiters. A tournament with 128 pilots and 8 arbiters will allow us to finish the tournament in about 3 hours. If you want to become an arbiter then do not hesitate to contact me in game.
We're not a rich corporation so if you want to help us organize these tournaments by sponsoring us then, as well, let me know and we will gladly accept every ISK you can spare. We're not doing this for personal profit and every ISK you give us will be used to keep these tournaments coming.
If you're able to help with ideas and constructive comments, then again, we're happy for any help we can get.

You are a streamer and want to cover the event?
Feel free to do so, and we're very happy to help if possible. Please let me know a couple of days in advance. This is our first tournament and I do not want it to be a complete failure.

Ok I hope I did not forget too much. I hope to see you very soon at our first School Of Applied Pew Open. In the meantime, thanks for reading, commenting and sharing this post.

Fly safe!
