We deployed a GUI update just now. If the settings (cog) do not say "EVE Launcher GUI version 1.1" right click & reload the GUI. :)

  • Settings - There is no delay between launching clients, as such the order may not be followed or cause bottlenecking of user's resources.

Hi,

the new launcher is really nice and works well BUT one thing should be done asap:

Today you published an update for the launcher and the settings are set to default again. I like to test new features but it takes some time to setup all again and again. I think you should implement a routine to keep individual changes on updates ( graphic resolution, playback intro, Overview settings and so on .. )
To do this over and over again for all accounts take some time and is quit anoying after a while xD

You're probably experiencing fallout from the following issue that was fixed today.

CCP raRaRa wrote:

  • Settings - Initial settings can go missing, as their folder is not numbered

Initially the launcher would create a folder named "settings" instead of "settings_1", and store the client settings there. Now it uses settings_1 by default as was originally intended.

Linux user reporting in. The Launcher works and updates itself nicely with wine 1.7.52 (wine-staging branch) on Ubuntu 15.10, after running winetricks vcrun2013.
One apparent issue: the launcher window jerks and shakes violently whenever it is moved by dragging with the mouse. When dragged to the edge of the screen it crashes, but this may be related to the Cinnamon desktop environment (it snaps windows dragged in that manner to the edge). Resizing the window works well.

Hi CCP_Avalon,

thx for the information.

Copied all from the 'old location' to settings_1 and 'tada' ... all fine xD

If you go to %localappdata%\ccp\eve\

you'll find multiple directories. The path will look something like

d_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility

For the old settings.

New settings will be in something like

d_programdata_ccp_eve_sharedcache_tq_87.237.38.200

(where your shared cache is in d:\programdata\ccp\eve\sharedcache\tq )

then settings_1 and so on are the directories.

at first i just took the launcher added 2 accounts used the drop down for settings for "settings 1" and "settings 2" for different accounts .. took the old settings and put em in the settings 1 and 2 folder worked as i wanted .. one opens in one monitor and other in 2nd ..

so did not look closely into the files n the settings folder, but after blindly putting all the char_ files from one to another and then using that settings to log on to the account i moved there it opened the client in the "wrong" monitor .. so looked into the files loser and see the "core_public_" ... with seems to be holding the main client settings .. so my initial tought of using settings 1 for both wont work .. but then not all is lost as i can work with that using settings one and 2 separately on the accounts. but option to rename the "setting 1, setting 2 .. " would be greatly appropriated ..

was thinking week or so ago to set up serval symlinked shortcuts to make different settings for different activities but the settings profiles would be 10000 times easier to set up now ..

long story short : the bolded bit :)

^^^ THIS ENTIRE PAGE OF POSTS

Is there any reason why the new launcher cant store EVE settings under Documents (like logs, screenshots, overview & fittings) instead of buried deep in sub folders inside our AppData directory?

My Current location of eve files using the BETA launcher:

C:\Users\%username%AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_games_eve_online_sharedcache_tq_87.237.38.200\settings_1

My Current location of eve files using the current launcher:

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_games_eve_online_tranquility_tranquility\settings

Default "pleb mode" installed EVE location:

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_Files_(x86)_eve_online_tranquility\settings

Change the new launcher so these files are stored under:

C:\Users\%username%\Documents\EVE

What this accomplishes:

Just look at the posts above. Every time someone wants to backup their eve files, xfer their eve settings across multiple pc, duplicate character setups, xfer their window positions and hotkeys to SISI, I have to navigate them to the path above. Their eyes glaze over and they begin to drool. Plus consistency wise, why are my screenshots, chat logs, overview files, and fittings in a nice folder in my Documents, yet the most important files (core_char),(core_user) buried inside folders inside folders inside folders?

INB4 "multiple users" or "localization and name differences" arguments.

---

Also, new launcher should have shortcuts to screenshots, fittings, overview, and/or settings folder as a button built in.

I installed the new patch for the new launcher today. After doing so, when I log into the game and attempt to approach any object with my ship, it begins to burn straight up uncontrollable. Only way to stop it is ti warp off somewhere. I figured I would post here due to the first happened after I installed the new launcher update. Thoughts anyone?

EDIT: the problem has seemed to solve it self with a new install of the launcher and then a computer restart. Great launcher love it :)

Can we maybe make it so you can select from the launcher if you want to watch the goddamn intro video? In the last two days I've watched it 6 times.

is there any word on ccp sorting out the launcher when it comes to launching 8 clients etc?

it launches the accounts in the wrong order even after dragging them into the correct order on the launch screen.. so everytime i launch my toons its next to useless as i can not multi box if my toons are in the wrong order etc..

Also, new launcher should have shortcuts to screenshots, fittings, overview, and/or settings folder as a button built in.

that would be
Client settngs:
%localappdata%\CCP\EVE\

Player Data:
%userprofile%\Documents\EVE\

Currently, the client rquires settings to be present in the client settings hierarchy and saves chat logs, screenshots, fittings, market data exports to the player data hierarchy.

Unless CCP wants to mess with the client, shortcuts (added to the E-Menu of the launcher) certainly may help.

Maybe there'll even be no complaints by some that messed up their client settings.

I used the beta launcher without incident aside from in game overview resetting along with browser and notes everything else seems to function. Good Job! Does need a little bit more but people have already mentioned that. So keep up the good work.
