Finally figured out why EVE makes me sad

Because it's the largest space MMO in existence, but it's also a horrible experience for people who don't like dealing with the dregs of society. This game attracts the worst people, and that makes me sad, because it's otherwise quite enjoyable.

I've been playing on and off since 2006. I've been back a whole 2 or 3 days, and I'm already regretting it. So, I'm out. For good. The socially-challenged degenerates have won.

Goodbye.

EDIT: To clarify: 1) yes, there are also good people in this game, and 2) it's not the loss of property that concerns me. I could always go buy a PLEX if I really need money. It's the fact that I have better things to do with my time than spend it playing a game with people who get their rocks off by ruining the fun of others - and that's all it was. The people who blew up my ship didn't gain anything by it. They simply enjoy making other people feel bad. This game is chock full of people like that, and I'd simply rather not interact with them - I avoid those people in real life, why would I tolerate them here? Which, again, makes me sad, because I do enjoy this game, otherwise.

And it really does make me sad, because I really do enjoy this game. I wouldn't keep coming back if I didn't. And I know there are good people here, otherwise it would not work as it does. The large-scale operations and such take cooperation. I see people cooperating all the time. Hell, it takes cooperation to form a gank squad! But I've never experienced any of that. In the nine years (on and off) that I've played this game, all I've ever experienced is PvE and getting ganked. And I'm sick of it.

the majority of the people who play it are normal.

Well, nvm they're not normal.

Not as bad as you think.

It's just the dudes on the forums who think their opinions are worth listening to and the definite minority of psychos in game who lead you to believe what you do.

@OP

you lose a poorly fitted Retriever in Lowsec and start calling others "socially-challenged degenerates". This was all your fault.

I'm usually not that guy, but...

... get back to WoW.

contrary to popular belief, eve doesn;t have the 'dredges of society' eve has some very smart people who know how to use the system to there advantage.

you are an immortal god that can do whatever the **** you want.

i have met, in my years here, only maybe a handful of least common denominator people, and thous tended to be the morons who thought eve was wow in space and could cut it.

Put on your big kid pants and deal with it. Welcome to the real world, all other mmos are supervised play dates in comparison.

Screw that, I will happily scrub the apathy and failure away, OP. Give your stuff to me.

It can be cleansed, with antimatter.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I'm sure you're sunny disposition had nothing to do with it. Pro tip, maybe people are just treating you how you treat them Ugh

I, too, cannot interact with people and blame it on everyone else.

Whatever you want to say about some Eve players its also filled with really talented and intelligent people. It takes far more skill in Eve to get to the top of the food chain than it does in any other MMORPG.

I don't know... he's in low-sec, probably wasn't paying attention as his drones weren't deployed so the death was fast enough that nobody would know how he was treating others in exchange for how he should be treated. In low-sec, the only golden rule is 'get the gold as it drops from the wreck'.

I don't think he drew that conclusion from the ingame actions, more from the post. Looking just a little deeper shows that even before he got ganked he was not very good at interacting with others.

I'll admit I look down a little on some of the people that go to great lengths to get a nearly meaningless kill. but to call them the dregs of society... hell no! That and you can avoid them for the most part by taking some very easy precautions. the corp theft side is a little hazier, but don't risk what you can't afford to lose. and a lot of it can be avoided by just not mixing all your stuff with corp stuff. I'm 99% sure this kinda stuff exists in other mmos, but the GMS/Devs swaddle the player base whenever anything slightly bad happens, if not ought right prevent something bad from happening.

ps, read the warning when jumping into low...

Because sometimes, Fiery Kernite is worth the trip to lowsec.

When a person is insane, as you clearly are, do you know that you're insane? Maybe you're just sitting around, reading 'Guns and Ammo', masturbating in your own faeces...do you just stop and go, 'Wow! It is amazing how f*cking crazy I really am!'?
