Been testing it a bit now and I can find no issues :D

But I do have requests/feature additions...

1. Allow us to select character so we wont need to do it ingame :D
2. starting the game as it is now it goes to the primary screen and centered, make it so that the "settings1" etc etc remembers windows position and monitor

*EDIT* 3. an option to close and/or minimize launcher after pressing "play selected"

Feedback for launcher version: 968307

You can resize the launcher to full window size, even though it behaves somewhat weird (rendereing not smoothly, but displaying white areas where it is expanded), however there is no full screen option, which throws me off everytime.

Settings window cannot be moved around and it is translucent, making it sometimes hard to read when there is something behind it. Also closing the dialog via the "X" in the upper right hand corner applies all settings even though i did not hit "SAVE" before.

Double clicking anywhere in the login-information window selects stuff (most annoying if dropdown arrow on the right hand side of username is double clicked) and colors it pink. Noticed this in the original launcher as well. Very strange behavior.

"Since you haven't logged in from this IP before" - dialog keeps asking me for the character name over and over, even though the checkbox "Dont ask me again" is checked and I did log in with the correct credentials.

When I close the launcher after I have started multiple clients and reopen it, it does not remember the state of the currently running accounts (shows "play" Button instead of "stop" button, next the the "settings1" Dropdown)

What I would also like to see is, that the launcher can be minimized to the taskbar by clicking on the launcher icon on the taskbar (when active). Always clicking on the small "_" in the top right hand corner is really annoying and sometimes when you misclick you close the launcher altogether.

Firstly praise: Launcher looks great, operates well

But . . . And somehow provision needs to be made for this . . . The problem of account bulk data download bottlenecking on multiple clients

When I load a bunch of clients simultaneously (and I have a few) the whole system lags and waits for the launcher to get all the account data stuff before the character selection screen. Having launched it a few minutes ago, only one account is at the character selection screen. (Been waiting about five or more minutes) Yeah, so the account data makes for one big fat bottleneck which slows the logging on to a snail's pace. (I have rather slow internet, which may exacerbate things.)

Now what I usually do is to log in each account at a time, waiting for the (old) eve launcher to download the character before loading the next account. That makes the logging process although very tedious a little faster. (Rather than having to wait for eve to get all the accounts simultaneously, I load em as quickly as I can which makes for a little faster process.)

What I would like is a setting which allows to autoload the next account as soon as the bulk data for the previous account has been downloaded rather than all the accounts at once which jams up the internet line. I don't know if such a setting is feasible, but I don't think it ought to be too difficult to code. Under the new launcher I could just manually log in each account as soon as the previous one has loaded of course, but since we are optomising things and since the idea is not to do things manually, I thought I'd enquire into such a setting.

This new launcher has given me a hard on.

THANK YOU.

If I could offer a suggestion - it would be great if we could rename the settings profiles (so for example I could name then after the monitor I want to launch on)
edit: I see that it's already been suggested and acknowledged nice one Big smile

After playing around with the new launcher for a bit, there are three suggestions I'll make about UI, two being button placement in the account list and one being about the Logout button.

1. Move the Play button to the left, so that it's just to the right of the Multi Login check box.
2. Move the sorting arrows to the right, so they're just to the left of the Logout X.
3. Give a confirmation when clicking the Logout button.

The rationality I have behind these changes is that the Play and Multi Login options are going to be the two most commonly-used features (or so I would expect). Having them at the beginning of the line just feels like it would make more sense, and since most people are conditioned to have checkboxes at the very beginning or very end of a line, it should be the very first option.

With the sorting arrows, I can't imagine that an account list is going to be sorted all that often. Maybe when a person creates a new account, but that will likely be a one-time thing to put it in the desired location in the list, making it a feature that doesn't need to be front-and-center in a person's attention.

As for the logout button, one misclick and you're relogging the char. I've done that twice with the Play button being right next to it, but it may be less of an issue if the Play button were further away.

Anyway, I'm really enjoying the new launcher so far!

Does this launcher download the non-TQ binaries automatically even if I never log into any of the test servers? And if yes, is it possible to turn that off?

EDIT: I've read the reply a few pages back. I understand that you want more traffic to the test servers but I don't want to test, and I don't want to download the extra gigabytes of data. You'll lose my subscription if I can't turn off all the non-TQ patching.

Once some more of the bugs are ironed out of this new Launcher will give it some more stress testing. Until then I'll give it one gigantic kudos right now. The ability to get to Sisi or Duality without having to be a software savvy person! The current way is a bottle of Excedrin worth of headaches.

Snorlax. any chance you get get this added into the reserved post for copying settings across into the beta launcher?

For anyone else looking to copy over windows locations and settings for all accounts to work with the new launcher.

You will first need to load up the launcher and log in with one account so the folder listed below is created

Go to

%localappdata%\CCP\eve

X = Either a letter or number

Go into the Folder X_eve_tranquility (Check the folder called settings you will know if this is the correct one because the settings folder will contain core_char_XXXXXX

Copy the folders Cache & Settings folders into X_eve_cache_TQ_87.237.38.200 (Removing the folders currently stored in there)

Followed that. It worked perfectly. i got all my in game settings back.

The new launcher is now my official launcher even in beta i found it more efficient than the previous one.

Nice feature !

Looking forward to see what's next with it.

EDIT : i just finish the "verify" cached data option and i lost 13GB of useless data. My eve folder is lighter than ever even with full download forced on.

EDIT2 : another nice feature would be a colour scheme for unsub accounts +/or subscription time remaing somewhere

In few words:

All my account, each one with its own settings, and the remember option not to have to rewrite 10times my password !

CCP, seriously, I love you :D

Edit:
Many idea before my post are really cool, but, for now, the new launcher is already a huge step forward :D

will the launcher update itself from the test version to the final version once its done?

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

It would be great if we could assign hotkeys to clients. So that if I press say F3, my 3rd client is selected/maximised.

This one thing I think ISBOXER does beautifully, other then permanent window layouts I am able to assign hotkeys to select a specific client. Its not such a big issue when using 2 accounts, as ALT+TABing working fine there. With 3 or more clients ALT+TAB can be messy and too slow in clutch situations.

I have moved all my modules to the number keys and reserved the F-keys to be assigned to specific clients. Obviously with 3+ clients I am probably more of a exception then the rule but if its a reasonably easy thing to implement I can imagine many people finding it incredibly useful.

I really like the Launcher the way it is currently.

Only thing i would love to see, is something like a "Masterpassword".
I would love to save the accounts.. but i don't want them "public".

Maybe something like multiple Profiles for different people with master passwords?

First thing to say: Really nice work! This launcher is so much better than the old one, really could move me away from using exefile.exe.

Some issues I found so far (most of them were reported before):

  • Translucent setttings window (when you click the cogwheel), makes it hard to read. Just give it a solid background.
  • Accounts should be remembered between servers, I find it irritating that my accounts for TQ are not saved for SISI, they use the same account information after all. So just make it possible to copy the information over to other servers.
  • Clients do not start in the same order they are sorted in the launcher. I have two accounts on multi launch and today they did start in the opposite order. Maybe I'll test if the order is random or not tomorrow.
  • Make multilaunch use a short delay between client launches or let us configure the delay. Even with two or three clients the startup process (bulk data anyone?) feels like it's taking ages, even on potent hardware and SSD. Or, I don't know if it's possible, share bulk data between clients and download it only once.

Will Eveprobe the graphics testing utility also be added into the new launcher?

I'll need to look into that. That sounds like a perfect reason to request a 4K monitor...

4k is grandpa-tech. Cool kids use 8k.

But you may need a larger cubicle.

Note that there are few 4k video sources let alone 8k, hence it is for "professional use only" at this time.

Verifying, purging extra files and downloading the full resource cache are all handled by the launcher.

Ok. Now what about the mitigation of file fragmentation after each update.
I'm spending literally hours (cumulatively) selectively defragmenting the bazillion files on my std HDD, starting from the introduction of the DoD resource caching in Scylla.
Please do not mention the word SSD if you intend to reply.

This, indeed. i have a 3-monitor rig, and i play eve spanned across monitors 1 and 2. when i start it up, however, it's always spanned across 2 and 3, and i have to move it. that's annoying.

Would be nice to be able to manage the settings in some way to change the names. So one can have a laptop setting and a desktop setting without the need to remember which was setting 1 or setting 2.

Totally agree, this is on our to-do list. The current list of available settings was quickly hard-coded for testing purposes.

Bare in mind that the settings are stored in files on your computer, so "Setting 1" on your PC is not the same as on your laptop, unless you configured the EVE client the same on both PCs.

Can we please pretty please get our settings into the server storage.
This way they won't keep getting lost every time we switch computers etc.
Pretty pretty please.

hot damn that is awesome!

although losing settings and my market quick bar are :( at least most of my settings are just window movements

Edit: Just took a look and looks like I could probably copy my settings from the normal TQ folder over to the sharedcache folder? I'll probably give that a try at some point.
