New Launcher is running nicely so far. Like the ability to add accounts and have individual settings.

EDIT: Agree with the post below that the 'E' menu is a little hidden. Could have a launcher options menu and make it more obvious.

Could we configure the launcher not to download clients for duality, multiplicity and chaos? At least 2 last of them should be no use to most.

Downloading singularity is good default though :)

Here's what i've got so far:

Where are the different Settings saved? (Like Settings 1 2 3 etc)?

I want to be able to move them over to different computers like my laptop.
Resolved found it myself

Otherwise no crashes or bugs so far.

The E in the top left isnt very intuative about it being clickable with lots of important options 'hidden' there.

Cheers

Awesome Beta! Appreciate the time and effort going in to do this.

- Doesn't save the account user names
- Clicking on the "Username" drop down causes the launcher to hang or become unresponsive for a min or two.

Installed Launcher in "C:\Games\EVELaunch", launched a game and got a new folder "C:\Games\SharedCache" witch contains: duality, resfiles, sisi, tq folders. Also several changes in "settings" folders for all clients. My lovely synced settings files are now in mess (((

  • We should be able to change settings names
  • "Unlink Account" button is very close to play button and needs some confirmation dialog
  • "Play / Quit process" button have to be more visible in relation to other icons
  • Launcher doesn't recognize already running instances after restart
  • Minimize to tray option - if it checks status periodically let us keep it it running without cluttering taskbar

We haven't decided if we will keep that menu - it's more like a place for me to put features that don't have a proper UI yet. Eventually those features will be accessible from the main page.

Multiplicity and Chaos aren't downloaded by default, only if you go to the server list (which may not be available in the final version).

Usually there is very little extra downloaded for Duality and we're hoping to get more traffic by having it easily accessible.

Hi,

How I can share this same setting (Overview/UI/Graphics) between accounts (and toons)?

It's will be good to share settings between profile. Eg: selecting 'profile 1' between pvp accounts, and 'profile 2' between mining accounts.

Snorlax. any chance you get get this added into the reserved post for copying settings across into the beta launcher?

For anyone else looking to copy over windows locations and settings for all accounts to work with the new launcher.

You will first need to load up the launcher and log in with one account so the folder listed below is created

Go to

%localappdata%\CCP\eve

X = Either a letter or number

Go into the Folder X_eve_tranquility (Check the folder called settings you will know if this is the correct one because the settings folder will contain core_char_XXXXXX

Copy the folders Cache & Settings folders into X_eve_cache_TQ_87.237.38.200 (Removing the folders currently stored in there)

- Is it possible to add a renaming function for the account settings ?
- +1 for the character portrait on each account line.

As few as i've tested, the new launcher is really great, better than the oldest one. But need to see after few patchs how it's working :p

Is there going to be an option to move the cache/settings folders? I don't like them on my C drive and would rather have them on my RAID array.

Many thanks!

One question: how I can share setting between account already created by new laucher and use it as template for all accounts/toons?

Press E on top left of window and from there "Shared Cache". It is window with move option and to check cache.

Not the Shared Cache, I mean the AppData folders.

Well I suppose if you want to completely mimic settings you could copy take a copy of the core_char_XXXXX.dat file and re-name it to the ID of the character you want them settings on?

I have no clue is this would actually work. If you want to try it take a backup of the folder first :D

Seems you can get it working under Wine already.

Indeed, yes! Thanks to all, and especially Cap'n Schmitty.

The new launcher is working under Linux/Wine v1.7.50 and, performance-wise, seems on par with the previous launcher.

Nice, guys! Thanks!

I see. Why won't you move whole home folder for that matter? Also you can use symlinks to get data to different location.

Nice to see the launcher getting some love, do have a couple of questions relating to basic functionality that I haven't seen mentioned so far though:

Will we be getting limiter for download speed finally in this new incarnation? Not everyone sits on 100Mb/s connections and can happily let programs grab as much data as they want, being able to limit the bandwidth used is a very basic feature these days imo, and one that the EVE launcher currently lacks.

Slightly related to the above, will the progress bar/readout in the new version actually share somewhat accurate information reliably? Currently I quite often see things along the lines of "Downloading 100% 240/80Mb" or some other such top-heavy fraction. It also currently 'finishes' only to then immediately find a large chunk further to download, which I'm aware is likely due to switching over from fetching required core files to the rest of the non-essential data, but is still annoying when hoping to get in-game, or just get on with something else. Being able to see how much is left of both data types would be ideal, but simply having a accurate display of the task currently being undertaken would be great, at present it's quite often a case of leaving it to run whenever I can spare all my internets and hoping it might finish before I want to do something else, with no idea if that's going to be in 2 minutes or 2 hours.
