Would save a character slot, as we would no longer have a need for forum alts.

EDIT: Although, it would kinda suck when the Reddit site admins decide to close the EVE subreddits.

Periodic resets of everyone's security and privacy settings, heh. Equivalent to full API's for everyone made public, including DEV accounts.

You kinda missed the point.

Nope. You missed the point. CCP on Reddit and Twitter is marketing. Generating hype.

CCP here knows that a lot of the audience wants more than that. How do they know? Because a lot of people like you whine and moan about stuff when they try that here.

Different markets; different strategies.

Dev blogs and forum posts are specifically for us, and we all know that we are the only ones who care about that stuff, and many--if not most-- of us don't even care.

It makes a ton of sense if people like you will stop with your butthurt long enough to consider things.

But you don't. Never have. Never will.

I honestly feel like I just read fifty shades of dumb. --CCP Falcon

There's no point in "hyping" mechanics on some forum for marketing reasons. There is no point in not using the main/official forums to drop the first info on said mechanics.

P.s. Did we just find a CCP alt? Wait no, your posting history uncovers nothing but drama queen posts.

What you state is kind of silly actually. Showing a picture of a new launcher is not going to bring in new players, because it has nothing to do with actual gameplay. Have you ever bought a game because of its neat launcher?.

So from a marketing point of view that picture could (and should) be put here for the current customers in order to keep those customers.

Here, to post you have to be 'in the game'

Reddit allows anybody who can type and has a fair amount (from what I have seen) of ex players who want validation for their own departure from the game in convincing others to join them. CCP counters with 'future so bright I gotta wear shades' in the same venue.

Me? I look here and there and try to keep current on who said what and would love if there was a central depository but different courses for different horses.

I made this very argument on Podside a few weeks back. While I can see a certain strategy for doing so - for example: People who do not play anymore can have input as per the discussion and possibly provide refinement ideas to the Devs before officially announcing said items/mechanics/features thus creating them to attract back those who left. That said, those who left don't play anymore and should not have that input and ability to **** on or influence anything, even positively regardless of marketing savvy techniques by using OOG social media because they chose to leave.

I agree that these forums are the official game makers form of communication, or should/used to be and should always be first and foremost. Reddit is ass, tbqfh.

No, it's because it's a hilarious whine. You don't get modded unless you did something you really shouldn't have. Deal with it.

Shameless plug for a possible fix to the eve forums, might help make popular ideas more visible to CCP

This post brought to you by CCP's alpha forum alt initiative. Playing the eve forums has never come cheaper.

I do wonder how the beta launcher will be deployed, will it be a separate download, or can we just change a setting in the non-beta launcher to use the beta launcher? anyway it's set for Oct. 5th, today, so I guess we'll find out after downtime here in several hours.

In true tradition they will outright replace it and people who log in on patch day will have their characters deleted automatically, without the 10 hr wait. It'll be irreversible and 2 months later CCP will make a cool short YT vid about the issue.

I'm posting this here because I think the official forums schould be THE place to announce and show off new things. Not twitter, not reddit, not whatever crap.

Thank you very much for posting this info and I agree 100%.

Very much this.
Agree 100%.

Anything even remotely related to this game should always be posted here first in the 'Official' Eve Online Forums.

Look, thank you for posting here but please let me articulate what we, your paying customers, are asking for:

Important (or indeed any game information should)

- be posted on these forums as a primary best practice
- not just be posted on Reddit or Twitter or whatever social networking thing you think is 'cool'.

We don't pay to look at Reddit etc to get our game information. We pay for you, the company, to post it here, not to send us on a merry goose chase to external sites.

Thank you
Definitely agree 100%.

Very well said and more importantly, straight to the point.

While I really would love to test drive this new Launcher today (and discover how my own Feedback got implemented in there), I'm not convinced that the date set for this update here will be different to the one first set for the Probe Launcher before.
