I really like the idea, it gives a really nice bit of positional information to help place oneself on the battlespace.
May I suggest that the ship icon is something like a Blue 5 pointed star to save confusion?
There is no need for it to be an appropriate ship icon, after all if we do not know what ship we are in, that is the least of our issues?

So I did some in game testing last night. When I cloak the little piece of garbage on my screen doesn't go away.

Why doesn't it cloak when I'm cloaked? When anyone else in the game cloaks their little hoo haw goes away.

I demand equal rights for all little ship hoo haws.

(I'd prefer a toggle switch)
