The planned events unfolding are nothing shy of nonsense and propaganda, but they do serve a purpose. That purpose of course is to continue to advance nationalism and state worship. Everywhere one looks, every television channel, every sporting event, and every parade, the talking heads will be spewing lies and waving flags. The remembrance of that day will be evangelical in nature. It will be a banner day for politicians, as they will un-abashedly practice false patriotism, and swim in a cesspool of self-interest.

Ten years ago, shocking and horrific acts of terrorism were carried out on U.S. soil, taking nearly 3,000 innocent American lives. Without a doubt this action demanded retaliation and retribution. However, much has been done in the name of protecting the American people from terrorists that has reduced our prosperity and liberty and even made us less safe. This is ironic and sad considering that the oft-repeated line concerning the reasoning behind the attacks is that they hate us for who we are – a free prosperous people – that we must not under any circumstances allow the terrorists to win. Though it is hard for many to believe, honest studies show that the real motivation behind the 9/11 attacks, and the vast majority of other instances of suicide terrorism, is not that our enemies are bothered by our way of life, neither is it our religion or our wealth – rather it is primarily occupation. If you were to imagine for a moment how you would feel if another country forcibly occupied the United States, had military bases and armed soldiers present in our hometown, you might begin to understand why foreign occupation upsets people so much.

I was in high school when it happen. Clearly too. I just arrived on my history class. Word spread quickly about the first twin tower. TV on on and the class watches. Then we saw the second plane crashing into the second tower. Had a strong feeling of moment there. Later, we witnessed the towers "shrink"down to earth. That feeling turned immensely. Then finding out later afterschoolabout the pennyslvania and the pentagon.

Will never forget those moments. I just hope the dead can rest easier that we gunned down the perpetrator, though I would have the perp alive and pay for such crimes. Humanity can do so much :-/

By the way, I watched the towers fall with the same reaction you could expect from the Lexx character named Kai.

I knew it was going to happen.

When you read history books, and not the comic book versions offered up by the skool system, you can expect these things to happen. As Patton said, "there is nothing new under the sun".

I do understand foreign occupation upsets people, I've been protested against. My buddies have the pictures to prove it! lol!

We all know that the bigger an organization gets and the more power it can hold, the more corrupt it will be. There will always be people with different agendas contrary to public goals within an organization or hold goals of a special interest in a higher priority then the majority or just good old fashioned greed. I could go on and on about what's wrong with America, the world, and most importantly the human species, but to be honest? I don't care. I say segregate the entire world population based on beliefs on how to do things. and see which group comes out ahead and none of this 4 year AC/DC flip flop ADD syndrome of govt that the US has for policies that take at least a decade to enact before any progress can be seen. I'm more of a technocrat or anarchist than any two party system in a democracy. For me, a democratic election is just a festival for the majority. The minorities always get shafted. It's like what this guy said.

But you guys are missing the point. I can give a rats ass on what politics made people do what, I'm talking about an individual's viewpoint on what he/she/it saw and felt that particular day. I want the human element. A good story. Period. Only Neo Shocker did that.

We learned about the PATTERN.

911 is just another date, another name, to the same old thing. And people reacting in the same old way. American are the Germans of 1933, and the Russians of 1917. Tyranny and murder to come of this, as usual.

Unless this cycle is broken, there's going to be more misery.

I watched it all unfold on TV that morning. What I remember most was the fear and confusion we all felt wondering whether there were any more attacks coming.

I find myself thankful today that the terrorists lacked either the resources or the imagination to follow those attacks up with what I feared would come next. Had I been the mind behind 9/11 there would have been OK City-style truck bombs around the country and other such attacks...enough so that the chaos we remember from 9/11 pales in comparison.

I find this relevant:
