Module to drop out of warp

We know it's possible for a ship in warp to be dropped out of warp by warp bubbles. I'd like to see a module that lets you drop yourself out of warp when activated.

Some possible mechanics:
- Be a low slot module
- Moderate power grid and CPU usage
- Fairly high activation cost
- Require Propulsion Jamming Level 3 and Graviton Physics Level 1 for use
- Prevent the ship from entering warp again for up to 60 seconds
- Generate a temporary beacon (similar to a cyno beacon) for duration of warp reentry delay
- Graviton Physics reduces warp reentry delay by 5% per level
- Covert version requires Prop Jam and Graviton Physics 5 and doesn't generate beacon

I think this could add some interesting dynamics to chases. What do you think?

So I could put the t2 version of your idea on my cloaky stabbed interdiction nullified higgs rolling proteus?

Just no. There are already get out of jail free cards in the game. The game doesn't need another evasion tool.

While I might be slightly anal about this, bubbles never drag you out of warp, but they can stop you from entering warp and drag the exit point of warp by 149km in either direction where you exit warp.

You can already do this for free btw by adding a xl shield booster to most smaller ships and draining ur cap before warping.

The suggestion of a module specifically for this seems extremely narrow and very specialized...

If I were to suggest something similar I would more than likely give the UI an emergenct warp button that activates warp straight forward for 0.1 AU. This would cover the issues you are talking about and solve a whole bunch of other issues at the same time, like freighter bumping in highsec and random panic button in general pvp/pve situations where you just broke point.

Extremely OP module, despite being interesting. You have to realize it negates any chance of pursuing a ship equipped with it if a sufficiently long warp is taken. For example, take a 100AU warp, drop in instantly, the pursuers are stuck in warp for 200AU until they can land back on you. It reminds me of when we'd kill stragglers on incursion gates, their fleet had no chance to get back there in time.

It would also have to prevent cloaking for the duration to be of any use, and no covert version. That's just a get out of jail free card.

Additionally, consider what would happen if a 250 man fleet used this just to f*** up people's overview to get an edge to escape. Hardly good gameplay, imho. In fact it would be right there with chat invite spamming, which was ruled an exploit iirc.

I don't think it's a good idea but if it ever get in the game, please call it an emergency anchor.

I am going to say no, simply because you didn't search on forum before posting. This "idea" has been brought up several times in the past few months.

Common misconception. I like the idea aside from that, though.

Zappity's Adventures for a taste of lowsec and nullsec.

You're just wrong about bubbles.

If the grid is 1000km in front of a gate and I put a bubble there. I'd say my bubble pulled you out of warp early. If the grid is 1000km behind the gate I dragged you out of warp to my bubble. So I'll spot you the symantics on the action verb you choose to describe how my bubble got you to where it did. The choice of words doesn't matter.

What you are horribly wrong about is the 149km limit (odd choice - you bubble sages normally go right for 150km). Right after down time grids are spheres, perfect 150km spheres made by math. The symmetry of eve right after downtime is breathtaking. Sadly those filthy pilots log in and undock. They fly around and things change. Grids stretch, bend and do all sorts of silly things.

Anyone that thinks grids stay as perfect spheres that can't move - do the following. Undock from Jita 4-4 or Amarr middle station. Just keep going. Let your ship drift. Hit your prop mod and burn straight out from the undock. You'll know when you leave grid because all the ships and assorted rubbish littering the undock will disappear from your overview (it only shows what is 'on grid'). Did the world just end at 150km? The further you get from downtime the further you can cruise off the undock before you hit a gridwall. Some folks occaisionally drop a bunch of space junk to prestretch the grid.

Grids are as stretchy and pliable as a .... well you get the point.

This is true, I stand corrected, I was actually hoping that I got it right with the 150km limit ss thats what I rememver from experiments ages ago, and I didn't actually bother to check it. It is news to me that grid stretching actually applies to the bubble effect - but it's always nice to learn. I read a grid-fu ages ago, and frankly - I cant wait until some of that legacy code keeping all the weird mechanics alive is gone, so we can stop trying to exploit a game, and rather just fly/live/burn in space Big smile

Now, having said that, alot of people that live in highsec/lowsec think bubbles that are placed in the middle of warp paths will drop you out of warp, this was what I was actually trying to inform about - maybe in a clumsy way, but hey Shocked

Also while informative, I think were kinda derailing the thread What?

I think it fun at times to do things to people that they know are impossible.

From what I've heard (as I've never ever actually done it) maniuplating grids takes a good deal of time and effort. Allegedly you're sculpting an invisible masterpiece. It doesn't sound easy, but does sound time consuming. I would think that if someone was willing to expend that sort of time and effort then it's reasonable they should be able to reap rewards from it.

What you call legacy code I call a super awesome feature.

Instead of throwing the cheater cheater flag and going all Debby Downer on mystery grids.... learn to take a step back and admire the beauty that one may or may not have created. Dare I say consider congratulating a master craftsman when he earns your ship and your praise.

I'll take getting wonked by a clever grid trap over being blobbed and alpha'd every day.
