Eve has a rich and brutal history and is something that drives a lot of players. They might as well be giving out Imperial Geddons...

You should have seen the response that happened last time CCP considered giving a Gold Magnate and a Guardian Vexor out. It was not pretty...
The Somer Blink incidents was in an entirely different league of outrageous. As can be seen by the apparent lack of protests from the community.

If CCP release something and say "This will be the only set of these items released forever, until the server shuts down" then that is what they should stick to. Especially with how easy it is to skin another ship and add stats to make a new unique ship. If they don't want something to be seen as unique, than they shouldn't say the item is going to be so. CCP already learned this lesson twice recently with the Blink controversy (Gold Magnate and Guardian Vexors) and before that with some clothing (Ishukone Special Edition Dress Shirt) they released as unique but then went back to re-release later. In BOTH scenarios, CCP did the right thing and did not re-release the items and fixed their mistakes.

Plus, 10 years from now, when someone mentions a Gold Magnate, wouldn't it be neat if everyone knew of THE Gold Magnate that was being referenced? And no one had to say, "which Gold Magnate from which AC are you talking about?" And that if someone was talking about a Silver Punisher/Whatever, you knew implicitly that it was from AC 2? Does not each Alliance tournament have different prizes? Each year something new is given out for Fanfest, not what was given out the year before.

As soon as they start re-releasing previously unique items, their word on the subject becomes null and void going into the future. How do we ever believe them again after that. How do we know they won't start reissuing AT ships 5 years down the road?

Just adding my dissent about those ships.

My silver magnates are almost 12 years old.

After this tournament, the above statement is meaningless.

I love that there's events like this, but if you could stop ruining your legacy and history, that'd be swell.

In WoW, Blizzard has never, ever re-released past event/arena mounts.
I wanted an Armored Netherdrake and a Black Qiraji Battle Tank. Season 2 Arena reward and AQ gate opening event reward respectively. I'm perfectly fine with not having either because of their history and would most certainly complain if Blizzard ever decided to hand those out again, regardless of the circumstances. Those mounts are permanently tied to those events in history.

Same with the magnates (and the other unique ships really). Reusing them greatly diminishes their historic value. (and monetary value but that's not that important)

You have an awesome new ship designing system, how about you start using instead of regurgitating old content. <_<
There's a billion awesome things you can do with it (like respective imperial house-flavored skins etc), but you chose to reuse historically significant ships from the dawn of EVE? ohgodwhy /o\

Pssst: Have you noticed that symbols of royal houses of Amarr are in wrong order in dev blog after first one. Just activate view image on symbol and you find right symbol for each royal house of Amarr.

The Somer Blink incidents was in an entirely different league of outrageous. As can be seen by the apparent lack of protests from the community.

If older players and players like Chribba and Entity are concerned, I think you need to rethink your argument. And this is the exact same thing as the Somer Incident, reusing a ship that is no longer in Eve, a ship that is part of a rich history.
Instead of reusing old, non existant ships, just reskin another. Problem solved. Which, strangely enough was also the answer the last time this happened...

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

Need rule clarification, there is some conflicting information going around:

Quote:
As such, you need to make sure that members of your team can fly all sub-capital Amarr ships other than Mauraders, Black Ops and Tech 2 Industrial ships. You will not be required to fly ships that require any racial ship skills other than Amarr (this includes Sansha, Blood Raider and Sisters of EVE). Khanid Innovations ships (such as Vengeance, Damnation, and Sacrilege) are included in the list of ships that may be used in the ship restrictions. Additionally, unique Amarr ships (such as the Vangel, Malice, and Armageddon Imperial Issue) will not be used.

Can you confirm or deny that Command Ship skills are required for all members of the team on first and second weekends?

and Guardian, do all members do the team have to be able to fly it?

thanks

So the current and former owners of the remaining Silvers and older players are extremely upset about this decision.

CCP said that they wouldn't re-release them. Part of the lore why I bought mine. That lore will be gone, on a whim, because as CCP said "under normal circumstances Amarr empire can last 500 years" This one lasted 12. It seems CCP has been trying to re-release them for a few years. First that Lotto, now this lazy storyline.

The history of the only Gold Magnate to be killed in combat will be gone. No one will care to look up that anymore.

CCP has not only reduced the value of this collector item by a couple billion, but hundreds of billions.

I don't expect CCP to do anything, as this now puts on the table the re-release of all unique ship hulls. What's next?
Federate Issue Megathron? Imperial Issue Apocalypse? Tribal Issue Tempest? Opux Luxury Yacht?

I'd much prefer CCP use new hulls for events. Creates new History and lore without damaging the old. (ssrly, the Tormentor could use some love!)

Baring changing the hull for this tournament, at least acknowledging the current owners of these ships by enhancing the stats of the older ones or at the VERY least some descriptor in the ship name or description. So people know which Amarr championship the ship was apart of.

Enhancing the stats of the remaining Silver's to be slightly better than the new ones would be the best to so that the old owners don't lose so much value in their ships.

So many tears about needing to fly CS. People, plz read the rules. The only time anyone will even be allowed to fly a CS is if they are allowed in that match. The intent of the statement was to inform players that they should have the skills to fly all Amarr ships except Marauders, etc in the event they are available. It may be that even if a CS is available, that you won't have to fly it.

To CCP, I would recommend that they not put teams into the situation of having to fly exclusively command ships, as the prereqs for them are extremely steep. Leave us an out plz.

Also, perfect CS main checking in.

You will need a passport, regardless of where you're from for identification purposes.

While you might not need it for travel through the Schengen Zone, we'll need official documentation to verify your identity and book flights in your name should you win.

With regards to ship skill requirements: You are not required to fly every Amarr ship on every character, but it will be advantageous to have as wide a selection as possible. Of course, having the ability to fly all Amarr ships may be looked upon favorably by heirs when it comes to selection, but it's no replacement for how well you can control them.

Additionally, with regards to command ships: there will be no round where anyone on your team must fly one (there will always be other ships available as well at that time) and at most, the rules for a round will permit a maximum of two pilots to be flying command ships.

Are players (not characters) only allowed to fly for a single team? Assuming this is the case, will chosen champions be able to decline representing their heir if they prefer to fly as a retainer for another champion (not necessarily for the same heir)?

I have a european union ID it must be enough. That can identificate every european. And i think most EU people dont have a passport just EU ID card.

This will make most europeans not apply when they could travel to iceland.

You should read about cowry shells.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cowry

In other words, I don't care that some collector with trillions of ISK gets irritated when someone else gets a chance to fly a spaceship. Frankly, there should not be any unique or special ships in Eve.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Two quick questions:

1. When exactly is the first match? I need to know as a deadline for having everything trained up.

2. Will the ability to fly T3s be required?

So, that means that an EU ID card (20-30€) should suffice in stead of a much much much more expensive passport

I have a question: Can we get a rough idea of the match times? Since we can only submit 3 people for team-mates, that leaves us with no alternatives in the event someone gets called in to work, has family emergency, etc. Or could we submit a list of alternates along with the primaries?
