Wow I left for SWTOR for a few days

Can't believe I missed 6 days of training for that game. Forgot to queue up my bad.

Anyway SWTOR sucks man damn, it is shiny and looks good from the outside but the insides are dead. PVP is just silly, PVE is just mind numbing and MMO doesn't exist when you only see 3 people at the most outside of the major hubs.

Sad but then it is EA.

I'm enjoying my inquisitor and shocking anyone who dares to defy me... which is almost every other NPC. Its satisfying, having an NPC talk back to me, and then going, 'orly? *shock*'.

Can you keep shocking people for more than a year? couple months? weeks? That's the whole question Big smile

I enjoyed randomly sheeping mobs in WoW with my mage for years. Dunno. We'll see how long this lasts, I'm enjoying the story, though.

I made it to the mid 30's but everything in the game is the same, the missions are all the same from level 1 to level 38 anyway. :)

I lost total interest by that time.

By here I am home again... always happens that way.

I got a friend who is telling every day how it is "the greatest singleplayer game I've ever played". Roll

Really, the amount of praises he's giving for it, is enough for me to decide NOT to buy it. I'll wait 3 months for a trial, if I can be arsed.

I predict SWTOR will be an epic failure. It certainly doesn't have the typical excellence you would expect from Bioware. Here is to prying Mass Effect 3 won't be complete dog ****. Once again EA has brought out the competition and then ruined them.

I try to be nice and mind my business just shooting lasers at rocks. There is just way too many asshats in New Eden for that to happen.

I think it will stay afloat and be better than RIFT for example.

Now that was a screaming pile of crap, that MMO.

When I was killing my 124348234723894728394millionth boss in a generic tier 1 dungeon to get epic puple loot staff that would be replaced soon with epic purple staff 1.5 in next dungeon thats when I simply said "screw this!"

That's the only reason eve is superior mechanic wise to all level grinding mmo's out there.

My only hope is for a game that launches that has something akin to skills that train in real time and people actually do SOMETHING else than killing bunnies for xp, even mission running with the innate boredom here in eve is better because all you grind is ISK. No lame ass kids rushing to 50 in 2 weeks (like I did meh) and then being at endgame and realizing I needed to begin grinding the dungeons for access to the final raid. OMG been doing that since 2001 ... In endless permutations all over my MMO life and 8 diff types of MMO's. meh.

It's like Playing AD&D 1st Edition over and over again, and then switching to 2nd Edition and we are stuck right now in the SKILLS AND POWERS rulebooks era of "customization" (makes my eyes bleed and brain melt) and if you get what I just said you get +1 at geek RPG.

Can't wait fro 3rd edition meh.

I still play old school D&D. Like the kind where the only rule set in stone is that the DM is in charge and we are all pawns to his scheming. And you don't need 24 different books just to make a character. I mean the D20 series makes more sense then some of the newer D&D books, at least to me.

Old penn paper D&D is still king in the RPG department. CRPG never really lived up to it. All CRPG usually go down to is hack and slash, more so in the later years. And that gets really boring really fast. I have not seen a CRPG wiht a story like Baldurs Gate or Icewind Dale since, well, Baldurs Gate and Icewind Dale.

You must have rolled on a low pop server bro, every planet I've been on from Dromund Kaas to Voss has been packed. Huttball is quite amusing as well.

Tor will be fine as it absorbs a disgruntled WoW playerbase, the only two dangers it faces are Guild Wars 2 and Bioware's own inexperience in the MMO arena.

This is the part where I say I told everyone so.

"don't get us wrong, we don't want to screw new players, on the contrary. The core problem here is that tech 1 frigates and cruisers should be appealing enough to be viable platforms in both PvE and PvP."   - CCP Ytterbium

Dude they shard the game into instances the enttire server is nothing but instances even the Fleet is instances. Plus Empire is 3:1 over republic (just wild guess) I played for hours and hours and literally never seen anyone outside of the mission hub. That is because there is no reason to go outside of the mission hubs. They only allow 50 to 100 players in each instance but generally on places like Hoth and Aldderan it was more like 12 people around the entire instance playing Republic. I played to 38 and was so bored I couldn't even log in anymore.

Huttball was cool for a while but it got old too.

If you like dumbed down single Player RPG with some interaction online with other players may be fun to those typers. All the missions from 1 to 50 are the same there are like 4 or 5 variations, Fetch, Kill, Right click to turn on or gather. People want to diss on Eve Missions but even in their static way they are far more interesting.

The Companions are fantastic addition to online rpg but that is the only original thing brought by TOR, the voice acting is not even that good and by 25 the missions were so generic I just space bar through all the yakking.

Wasn't for me anyway.

Oh and my server was full with about 5 min wait in queue. Now it is standard to heavy most of the time including west coast prime time. Many have already moved on...

In 1981 I had the Basic AD&D box set.

Still have the D20.
