Tengu vs. Legion. Lets fight!

Since Strategic Cruisers are such an investment.

I was wondering what one is better, the Amarr Legion or Caldari Tengu?

I know there are always differences but I am wondering over all which one seems to do the best in pvp?

I also know that people are very opinionated so I want to see what people think of them both!

To make a Tengu really annoying you need to get a 100MN AB fit and stick a faction dissy on it, then it is stupidly annoying. Tengu fleets aren't so FOTM because the cost vs the benefits over a Drake blob isn't really worth it, but they are decent in small gangs where a scimi or two can work well with their unholy resists.

HAM Legions are definitely solid DPS brawlers, and a neut Legion is a solid addition to any T3 armour gang.

As to which is better...I won't dare to make that call.

It really really depends on the sitoration / amount of isk / setups. You can't pick one of them, they are good for different sitorations. Tho tengu seems to be able to fit into more, because of lon range, and good DPS projection.

Legion only has the element of surprise for it (is it a ham, lazors, drones, neutsboat ?)

I cant really speak for the Tengu simply because I have not flown it often in gangs. The Legion however is an absolute beast in T3 Armor gangs. weather its a massively tanked neuter, laser or ham setup, all those variants are very effective in armor gangs.

Well I for myself actually liked the baby avatar look, but I agree that there are much prettier sub combos.

Most people lean towards the tengu for pure DPS + tank or the 100mn option. The legion is ok as AHAC, HAM setups(however by the low range you have to commit to the fight), heavy tanked neut ship or niche stuff like frig killer at low sec gates under sentry agro.

The Tengu can kite/snipe with HMLs (even though you can fit HMLs on a Legion, it's a "last resort" option). Have a friend along to tackle though!
The Legion has the better EWar subsystem of the two (although the Loki is the undisputed king of EWar T3s). The neut-brick Legion makes the Ashimmu a shiny faction paperweight (due to the Legion's superior resists, capacitor, and raw buffer), and can be thought of as a cross between the Pilgrim and Bhaalgorn, while not stealing the Curse's role of long range neuting. ECM Tengu? Why? Bring a Falcon if you want to jam someone.
Both are roughly equivalent in 100MN HAM setups, IMO. They'll both get the job done in that case.
The AHAC Legion is a bit gimpy compared to the Zealot though (missing 4th bonus on the Legion's laser Offensive sub), while the Tengu handily outshines the Cerb for the obvious reasons.
The Tengu is the superior PvE boat for most things (Locus Legion is arguably superior for Incursion Vanguard blitzing, though).
The Tengu has better DPS as a covert T3. (The Legion covert subsystem is badly gimped.)
The Tengu has a better active tank (but this is due to the OP-ness of deadspace shield boosters).
The Tengu by far is better (the best, actually) at "T3 blockade runner" style travel fits.

My vote: Tengu for solo, small gangs, or as a covert T3, Legion if you fly in doctrinal T3/Logi fleets (using the neut-brick fit).

All tech3 cruisers are overpowered, so you can get any and pwn with little to no efforts. Sometimes even with no risk - if you stick to 100mn ab faggotry.

I know sometimes it's difficult to realize just how much you spend on incidental things each month or year, but seriously, EVE is very cheap entertainment compared to most things... If you are a smoker, smoke one less pack a week and pay for EVE, with money left over to pick up a cheap bundle of flowers for the EVE widow upstairs.

Legion by far, looks cooler, lasers look cooler, neuts are funner, Tengu is crap and too mainstream
