Raven Navy Issue w/ Raata Sunset Skin

When I see a Raven in space it is just the stereotypical space battleship. The Raata Sunset skin just makes it look even more fierce. Is there any chance of being able to apply the Raata Skin to the RNI?

I would open my wallet for the Raata Skin on the RNI.

Personally I find this "fill whole texture" skin stuff horribly out of place and hilariously lazy design.

Really?!? You like that? hehe just saying, at least to me, it seems out of place. And you want it on a CNR?? Lol If I buy a volvo and slap on some sports car red paint with a white racing stripe, it's still just a volvo Straight Actually I like the camouflage on the CNR a lot, it really fits. That that that Wasabi green or whatever, looks ok on the raven. But the red on anything slow moving, well just doesn't seem to fit imo.

So Caldari got red and green... I wonder if there are some CCP office jokes going around like what's red and green and spins 100 miles an hour? No, not a frog in a blender, a Caldari miner getting bumped.

Raata Sunset skins are horrible, i have no clue what the art department are on for not letting us have cool stuff like iron man Nyx's then they come out with crap like this...

I did some test with EFT, to see how effective the Navy Raven is. With my favourite fit, the difference is marginal at best. It went like this:

Raven: ca. 77k EHP
Navy Raven: ca. 99k EHP (Good!)
Raven DPS T1 cruise + T2 drones: 630
Navy Raven DPS (same): 664 (Marginal difference, but at least better application for the Navy Raven)
Raven: 507 DPS Burst-defense with Domination X-Large (Same deal as T2, but less cap-draining. And cheap for a faction-module)
Navy Raven: 508 DPS Burst-defense with Domination X-Large
Both: Same Res
Both: Same Range
The Navy Raven has better electronics and can lock targets slightly faster
The Raven uses less launchers for the same effect: Less ammunition used.
The Raven has an utility-low for a small tractor beam. (Which is important if you're travelling in a big, slow tub like a battleship. Waiting on slowly drifting closer to something you're supposed to pick up is pure agony.)
The Raven can fit T2-cruise missile launchers, the Navy Raven fit needs at least a +3% CPU Implant. And even then the DPS is basically the same as a T2-cruise Raven. For some reason the difference between both ships sank from 34 to less than 20 DPS, which is just a rounding error at that point.


Why did I list all of this? Because it proves if it's just about the skin, take a Raven and make it red. You're not losing out on much and the Raata skin can't be ganked away.

A Raven is so close in everything except EHP to a Navy Raven, it's kind of silly considering the price-difference. And EHP aren't that important for a mission-ship, the Navy Raven is total overkill on that point. The application-issues are easily solved by using medium T2-drones against elite cruisers and light T2-drones against elite frigates. Everything else dies to your cruise-missiles too fast for application to matter anymore.

Just take the T1-Raven already and take the sweet, sweet Raata-skin. Big smile

There's this tiny thing about damage application which makes a massive, MASSIVE difference. On top of that it's faster, it locks faster and it has higher sensor strength meaning it's less susceptible to jamming. They're not the same at all.

No my point is that you underestimate the differences and do the "waaah might as well not bother" whine, which is hilariously obvious, terrible and wrong. It is a MUCH better ship for those specific reasons listed, stating otherwise it simply lying and doing the OP a disservice.

Having a different opinion isn't whining or lying. Let the OP decide for himself. I've decided long ago not to bother with a Navy Raven, it's an ugly ship, overpriced and garbage. But that's my personal opinion and if you like the Navy Raven, feel free to use it.

however forming an opinion on a pile of garbage, and presenting it as a valid argument.... The closest thing you made to a valid point was that the raven had a utility high for a tractor beam.

with max skills, 4 cn bcus, t2 launchers, fury ammo, and 5% implants dps should be 1045. Raven has a rof bonus so after reloads it has worse dps. CNR has 8 launchers so it has better alpha. Additionally the CNR's damage is not based on the caldari battleship skill so with lower skills it is usually the better option. Also the CNR has better drone bay and bandwidth so it can get more damage from drones.

personally I just don't fly missile boats for general mission running. the delayed damage usually just leads to wasted damage. Either because you miss counted your volleys, or because a partial volley may or may not kill a target if it reps, so you have to fire more missiles than needed.

They do look badass though.
