I noticed that all the ship systems work logically they way they do in the real world but there is no where the lore that explains this to someone with out an engineering background this should help explain the way the systems correct together.

Break down of the power system on a starship

Ship reactor
to

Capasisator Bank and primary stepping transformer
to

primary mains (power lines and backup reactors)
secondary mains (supporting reactors)
to

Switch circuits

Å (Always on last thing to go after pod transmission)
Life support

B
Propulsion systems
warp drive
microwarp drives
-
basic ion drive
after burners

C
Weapons

D
Shields

E
EW

it is short hand but the core of the ship is a reactor be it coal magnetic, nuclear, antimatter what not but something that turns dense energy stored mater into energy.

This is then transfer energy across what are called mains or main power to the capacitors, which store the power so that energy can be transfer as fast as the mains can carry not as slow as it is generated.

This is why you see reactor that increases the cap but is not the cap.

then you have mains from the capacitor banks to the switch power or a transformer or bank of said transformers...

these switch ac to dc or step up voltage up or down so that watts equals the total combined number of amps times volts, some things need lots of volts some need lots of amps some need both.

power would go to life support, the pod and in system drive and main warp drive as none of those stop in eve.

then power to the ion based drive ie after burners, and power to microwarp drive as they can be interfered with

power to weapons, electronic warfare and shields.

I'm half asleep but the systems seem very much like the us navy nukpowered battleships. that is wet navy lol.

I am going to draft a diagram about this and put this right in front of me whenever I play Eve.

A Minmatar warship is like a rusting Beetle with 500 horsepower Cardillac engines in the rear, armour plating bolted to chassis and a M2 Browning stuck on top.
