Since the Devs are much rather karma whoring on reddit...


I'm posting this here because I think the official forums schould be THE place to announce and show off new things. Not twitter, not reddit, not whatever crap.

Devs not posting on their own forum is pretty bad IMO.

But +1 for the new launcher anyway, looks amazing.

for clarity, i dont think anyone could begrudge them not wanting to talk to us (the jaded edjits that we are ) but rveals like this should not come through Reddit .

Not talking to us "the player abse" should extend to other communication platform too especially since at least here they can moderate stuff how they want instead of whatever the admin of platform X want.

Here I used to have a sig of our old Camper in space. Now it is disregarded as being the wrong format. Looking out the window I see one thing: Nothing wrong with the format of our Camper! Silly CCP......

Actually, the first announcement of the Bootstrapper was in the CSM minutes.

The posts there are side effects of the announcement at Evesterdam, to control out of context messages people had been seeing.

A dev blog is coming.

Even then, what stops them from a quick post in GD. ... players would link it around anyway. The other way around just devalues this forum. Yes,Twitter and reddit are faster ways to spread infos ... but we‘re here to be closer to the source. But if the source dries up, what‘s the point of coming here.

Then why are they not posting this sort of notice here.... Could the CSM make the point to them that they really really need to actually use their own forums as well. Not all of us have time to use the other 59 methods they use.

Then they need to invest in making this forum mobile friendly and design a new community platform that integrates multiple types of communication. Last time they tried (with this version of the forum and eve gate) it was a spectacular failure, so presumably there's a reason it's on a backburner at the moment. Using reddit looks to be the cheapskate option for the time being, and in all fairness announcements have been issued across multiple platforms for a while now (twitter, the o7 show, facebook). It's a tricky one though, and I can understand why people are annoyed at being so transparently pushed onto r/eve by CCP.

A short term solution might be to issue announcements on twitter then have an auto feed here (like the new eden link bot) to pull through crossplatform posts/comments from devs.
