Could you tell me whether ECCM modules are effective in level 4 missions against NPC's EWAR? I'd like to know what ship's sensor strength is enough to prevent for example Gurista's jamming?

You can never totally prevent it. You can only lower the chance of being jammed. There are set implants, mods, and rigs that increase your sig strength; and lower your chance of being jammed. However, you kinda gimp your tank or DPS by using the mods and rigs.

Hard counter to jams is drones and FoF missiles.

Sure you can, get a marauder.

I have another question. Warships in EVE Online possess various sensor types: Gravitational, Magnetometric etc. So if I want to fit ECCM module for particular boat I must choose ECCM module type identical as this ship's sensor type or this depends on pirate faction's EWAR type?

ECCM works this way

Each racial ship has a specific type of sensors and a sensor strength based on the ship class and specific ship used. If you want to lessen the chances of being jammed, you would fit modules, rigs, implants and train the skills for that specific racial sensor type.

You cant defend against specific rats ecm, you can only boost your specific sensor defense, tracking, range etc.

Bastion mode to be precise, but then you have to worry about disconnects and those pesky sockets closing.

Good point, I guess I'm lucky as I rarely DC.

You know, just had a thought, what if we had a deployable that increased your sig strength? A anti-EWAR deployable?

Or maybe a dedicated ECCM frigate?

So for example I run missions against Guristas. Their EWAR is jamming. I fly Rattlesnake using Gravimetric sensor so I should fit it with ECCM Magnetometric II module? However I am not sure if Rattlesnake with this very ECCM module will be equally capable of negating for instance Serpentis EWAR?

Why would you fit Magnometric, when you sensor strength in gravimetric?

OK, so the rule of thumb is: ship's sensor type = ECCM module type!

Use auto-targetting missiles and drones.
