Will the 20 selected team captains be informed on October 16th along with everyone else?
Or will they be told before this date they were selected?

And requiring command ships is going to eliminate most main characters.

You should have just made Gold and Silver Punishers instead.

The Gold and Silver Magnates were designed for the Amarr Championships, so this is what they're awarded for.

Given that under "normal circumstances" the leader of the Amarr Empire can reign for >500 years, this might very well be the last Amarr Championship we ever see.

Sorry, this is just lazy and a giant middle finger to the current and previous owners of those ships.

I really just don't understand why you're so quick to reuse old prizes. First the blink business which was rightly shut down after massive negative player feedback and now this. Why not just create a punisher or even a confessor and hand those out as prizes?. You could even do something interesting and make some sort of unique skin corresponding to the winner's house. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having relics of the past in the database that don't see play on TQ, especially in the case of the gold magnate where the only one was flown and subsequently destroyed years ago.

Pretty much the only thing that you could've done that would be worse would be to issue new impocs and imp geddons.

Yes, perhaps it is worth rethinking requiring command ships; that one probably rules out a lot of people.

There was the whole uproar over this before because bringing the Gold Magnate back was going against one of the core principles of the game: Once it's gone its gone.
The last Gold Magnate was destroyed and that's part of the Eve history. It should be kept as that.

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

All my cheers for the Khanid representatives.

It's time to change and only Khanid has proven the guts to do that so far.

EDIT: Oh hey I'd be an eligible pilot - for some reason I have trained the post change command ships unlike reddacted. On to improving my T1carebearing er industrial skills (they weren't ruled out unlike their T2 counterparts)...

For those who are interested in a quick rundown of the five heirs and their houses and policies in order to determine which house they would like to support, I suggest looking at the following two articles on EVElopedia:

https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Amarr_Emperorship_Heirs,_YC118
https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Politics_of_the_Amarr_Empire#Royal_Family_Politics

Also, blasphemy that Khanid is allowed! Grrrr.

I wish you'd have added a Gold/Silver Punisher or similar instead of suddenly reviving very old EVE history. No more ahhh, ohhh, ehhh, woooo wonders about talks of the OLD ships, now will be forgotten and anyone saying Gold/Silver Magnate will only think of the YC117/118 Championships and the old lore and history is completely forgotten, wrong move imo.

For example, what makes the history of (one of) the Impoc so great is the fact that it was returned to the Empire through a player event. Introduce more Impocs and who would care about getting to know that event?

Considering the Drifters seemed to find it so easy to kill the leader of the Amarr Empire this time...and they are at war with each other. Couldnt they just kill the new one on a weekly basis? :D

THIS!

Just because these were the gifts last time doesn't mean that have to be the gift this time. Unique once-off items should remain that way forever, even if they are destroyed leaving none left on Tranquility. Like other people have said, you could very easily have made a Gold and Silver version of any of the other Amarr T1 Frigates. Or T1 destroyer. Or T2 frigate. Like you said this could be the last Amarr Championship we experience on Tranquility so why not make the prizes worthwhile, super OP, and something to remember forever?!

Reissuing stuff years later just ruins the items that were given out in the past and undermines the effort that people put in to get the items to begin with...

SMH

Edit to say I'm glad I'm in the same boat as Chribba. At least the players understand the unique importance of these ships and the history of EVE. So sad and pathetic CCP doesn't...

But surely preserving the history / significance of the original issued gold and silver magnates is incredibly important.
Choosing something like Punishers could enhance that history rather than overwrite it .

I have no problem with this tournament other than I'd like to own a Silver Punisher too. Kudos to CCP Falcon for giving newer players an opportunity to win some unique ships that will go down in Eve history.

100% agree with Destoya, Chribba, Seraph Essael, Im Stuck and Felo Maxun.

I don't understand why, sure you can roleplay justify and bullshit a reason, but what's the point ?
Do something new instead of shitting on old.

How many new players can fly all Amarr SubCaps including Command Ships?

I'm on 63mill PvP focused SP and it's still a 60 day train for me.

Just create a small distinction in the ship description so that the different gold/silver Magnate versions can be set apart. A very small effort required to please the tiny crowd of bitter super vets currently complaining.

It's not even a case of that. It doesn't take much to reskin a damned Punisher rather than a Magnate. That would make everyone happy. New rare ship in game and something that doesn't go against the core principle of Eve. The Gold Magnate was destroyed. There are none left in game and that is part of a very harsh Eve lesson and also part of something before my time that I enjoy listening about. Eve has a rich and brutal history and is something that drives a lot of players. They might as well be giving out Imperial Geddons...

You should have seen the response that happened last time CCP considered giving a Gold Magnate and a Guardian Vexor out. It was not pretty...
