Mining won't die as long as there is civilian mining laser coming free of charge with every rookie ship.

I know it's a troll, yet I will bite anyway. I love mining. There is a zen quality to it. I love setting a skiff in orbit around a valuable piece of space rock and just watch the beauty of the ship and its laser as it melts the ore into my hold. I like knowing that I am the base of the support structure for the entire game. Without me (and my fellows) there would be no base material for the massive ships or the small attack craft that you guys love to crash again and again and again thus creating a market for more and more of the material that I provide. Without my contribution in stripping the ice fields, you would not have the fuel that keeps your stations operative and your capital ships from collapsing dead in space.

Dead!? I think not. If mining dies so does the rest of New Eden. I will mine until every rock in the universe is vaporized!

And it seems CCP is releasing a new ice mining frigate.

Apparently not everybody agrees with the OP.

Seeing that Eve is dying for 12 years now it is safe to assume that mining is dying with it.
