Adult content filter for EVE chat

EVE online has no age limit. I propose adult content filter for EVE chat. Everyone has option to activate adult content filter. When someone wants to discuss something mature he can tag his text to be mature. Those who have adult content filter on don't see any of this text.

Comments are welcome for my idea.

I need to manually tag a text line/message as adult content? Shocked Is it just me or do other people also see the uselessness of this method to highlight adult content? Just require these people to use a private convo to discuss the matters.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

Chat sensoring is bad. Don't like a channel's content, close the channel. You can create as many of your own channels and invite as many people to them as you want.

We have filler settings, people should use them.

You have to manually tag evey time you write something that someone might consider adult content? This is a horrible idea and nobody is going to bother actually taking the effort if the option existed. I guess check 'adult content always on' and then never think about it again.

Not trying to sound rude here, but if you don't agree w/ what your corp/alliance/fleet mates are saying in their respective chats, you need to get out of that chat.

If you're worried about some kid overhearing you talking about some kind of naughty-night-time fling that you are bragging about... don't brag.

Better yet, Parents: Don't be a freaking moron and let your kid willy-nilly explore the internet on his/her own. Common sense people

If people are getting vulgar in channels you frequent, ask them to stop in that channel. If they proceed to tell you to go **** yourself, then you should close that channel.

If you are letting your children play EvE, and find them in channels where there is frequent vulgarity, then you need to do something called parenting and deal with it on your end, not ask CCP to censor everyone simply because your special snowflake is being exposed to words they likely already know.

95% of people should not have to leave a CCP moderated channel because 5% want to get into explicit descriptions of sexual activities.
There comes a point where the people doing the vulgarity are the ones who need to be moderated.

If it's a private player controlled channel then the Mods can deal with it obviously. But CCP channels there needs to be a sensible to access mechanic for issues.

There's already a mechanic for that. If a GM sees it, the offender will be muted, kicked or possibly banned. If a GM isn't watching that particular channel at the time, file a petition and they'll check the logs and the offender will be muted, kicked or possibly banned.

Aside from that, well, HTFU.

Right, so now show me where you can file a petition regarding 'vulgarity' in game in just a few clicks.
The lengths one has to go to in order to file a petition now are an issue. And not lengths a lot of players will know.

There is a sensible to access mechanic. Take a screenshot, press F12, file a petition on them, and let CCP determine if they've violated rule 2 in the TOS.

Outside of that, you need to realize that you are playing an adult video game where adult topics are going to be discussed. There is a reason that there is a warning when you open the game about online content not being rated. There's enough nanny state political correctness bullshit going on in the world as it is, we don't need more.

Eve Online is a sandbox game. No idea why ccp allows all sorts of play styles such as scams, etc but language use can be an issue. Kind of silly imho. You (ccp) recruit new players to the game but you (ccp) blame us for using mature language with them. Adults sometimes use adult language, imagine that!

Request for CCP: Recruit mature children to this game, let the immature ones continue playing facebook, etc. [This in no way means underage players, just maturity level.]

To give an idea of the sort of chat content I'm talking about finding objectionable, one CCP moderated channel I was in the other day had several people taking part in graphic descriptions of things such as felching. (WARNING, only look that up if you really are serious, it is NSFW content).
The odd swear word here and there I have no issue with, a full blown swearing rant might be a little over the top, but if it's just a short one I can handle that, it's when you get into full heavily graphical descriptions of things like above that I feel you've stepped over the line of decency.

You have the option to remove yourself from conversations that you find offensive. If I go to a party and conversation around me starts to go in a direction I find offensive or objectionable, I'm not going to ask the group to change the topic, I am going to leave that group and find conversation that I find more appropriate. The line of what is or is not appropriate is relative to each individual, so therefore the onus to avoid topics you find objectionable lies entirely upon your shoulders.

That simply means it's that much easier to act like an adult and remove yourself from a situation you find objectionable, as opposed to asking for CCP to babysit you during your time in game.

But this is not the moderation option you are looking for. People who indulge in vulgarities and other offensive language and behavior will be the last people to flag their content as Adults Only. And by the looks, as quoted above, CCP does not seem to be particularly interested in providing easily accessible tools to get things moderated. The only real method right now is to Block Characters.

Yeah but it's a hassle and a half to log petitions now, no matter the reason.
