Ahh, dakka. The biggest illusion... coincidentally, when I played 40k years back, I was an ork player so dakka vs damage is something I am quite familiar with.

We really have to get rid of this concept of "DPS" in eve. We have to focus on applied DPS. Things right now just cover TOO much range on what and how well they hit. An ideal mechanic, there would be no ideal. There is cause. If you are a small fleet, there might be average weapons, but if you fit a uniform fleet, the larger you get, the more weakness you present if you don't focus on a more organized dynamic.

Each ship class (frigate, destroyer, battleship etc) should have some core premise. damage and tank. That is a guarantee for all. Speed is a tank, as is range. If you fit all battleships, well bombers will kite you all day. If you are fit for close range and tracking, need to be out sniped. Eve really has to get away from blob is best. Blob is viable, but tactics need to be better. This way a medium fleet would have a couple squads of battleships for whatever the chosen role, then smaller ships are support. It could be your cruisers are for the damage and your battleships are point defence, or make it so the versa can be true as well.
