Why I stopped playing eve to play destiny

Hello,

I have 3 accounts and 7 toons that i have unsubbed. This account is the last one and its subscription will soon lapse. I've been playing since 2010.

I used to love this game but have now been taken in by Destiny on ps4. I'll just list a few reasons why as they pertain to eve's gane style. For starters, I'm both in the military and a father, so I don't have the time to sit in front of my computer for hours. Destiny lets me play for an hour and then leave.

Second, I'm more of a PVE style player. I like destiny more because I'm not forced into PVP. Also, the PVE in destiny is amazing and the rewards are just as good as the PVP ones. CCP and the eve communtiy in general seem to hate PVErs that don't wish to partake in PVP while in destiny they are rewarded and accepted.

Third, destiny has a fantastic and friendly gaming community. Here on eve between the gankers, scammers, thieves and overall self-entitled jerks the communtiy on eve is generally hostile and toxic.

I might come back to play but for now im not sure. Also, bash me all you want because I won't give a ****.

And no, you cannot have my stuff.

Yea, the community here is pure dog **** but the game is pretty good if you have alot of time.

I'm sorry that your circumstances have resulted in your being unable to devote the massive amount of time required to enjoy yourself in EvE, but I'm happy you're enjoying yourself in other ways.

Take care

No, Bungie isn't so apprehensive about admitting that PvP is fun. Heck, they have to gate a lot of endgame gear behind PvP accomplishments, because the community manages to trivialize each and every PvE encounter they have ever made in a matter of days. The new expansion end boss was released only days ago, and people already have it on farm.

If by gate you mean find those few cannon fodder willing to die to your cheap tactics then sure. Destiny PvP accomplishments tend to be more about persistence than skill.

Also content that was intended to be beaten being beaten is non-news.

I'm guessing you never made it too far in Trials.

Actually yes, for the same reason. Cannon fodder teams are still out there. There are some very skilled teams mind you that have that down to a science, but aside from gunning for Mercury, which ironically wasn't too much of a draw since they made so many other ways to advance, you could usually get what you wanted out of it with again, persistence and not being completely terrible.

And considering how well I do in PvP the terrible part may be optional.

EVE isn't for everyone, and today's EVE is a lot easier on noobs than before. I am glad this game isn't for everyone, keeps the kiddies away.

Been around since the beginning.

So the op is basically saying "I'm simply not suited to this game, I prefer instant gratification and don't like how other people can affect me against my will even though that's a main theme of this kind of game, also I was unprepared to deal with people on the internet". Sounds like someone who would like soccer if people would just stop kicking the ball away from him...

I can't tell all you how happy I am to see people like this (people who didn't do their homework before downloading) F off from this game. Why more people (who hate the game like this guy does) don't F off I don't know.

One last thing...

Its people like you who are part of the reason why I'm leaving.

If you don't want to be forced in to PvP, then just find a nice, quiet pocket of space in Null-Sec and a friendly Corp or Alliance that will take you in.

I would even suggest the Corp I'm in. :) Nice and cozy where I am.

Also, I understand the appeal of Destiny. I own the game, and I enjoy it as well, but I haven't been playing it much lately because I've been doing other stuff. That, and that I'm not exactly keen on paying for the DLC for further content (don't they have TEN YEARS of content planned?).

You don't need to give up playing one game for the other. You can simply alternate between the two of them, since there will come a point where the two are just about equal in terms of their gains.

But that said, I'm not that hard-core of a gamer, and I'm fresher than adolescent trout when it comes to the game. I've had bad run-ins regarding PvP in the past (due to coming into conflict with much more experienced players), so I don't intend to make any drives into PvP until I've got at least a year of experience under my belt.

I like how not liking eve makes one an instant gratification loving asocial. I certainly understand finding the game less than desirable and leaving because it's not your cup of tea. That said, basically insulting someone who made that realization through ascribing his departure to imagined personal flaws only lends validity to the condemnation of the community.

I want to say that you may have left eve but hopefully eve hasn't left you 😁

If you have been a player and have experience although some of the community is a tad salty ,some of us want eve to grow and expand and maybe your thoughts could be used out of game to help newbros in forums etc

Best of luck to u hopefully u find a nice balance o7

Honestly you should stop playing but keep paying for your subscription so you can keep training.

Who knows, maybe your schedule/preferences will change in the future, and if you ever do come back, not having been training for however long it has been is really going to be a thorn in your side.

The worst part is, people like Jenn are actually proud of the fact they drive people away. The feel it is their religious calling to "cull the herd"

CCP Quant: Of all those who logon in Eve, 1.5% do Incursions, 13.8% PVP and 19.2% run Missions while 22.4% mine.

40.7% Join a fleet. The idea that Eve is a PVP game is false, the social fabric is in Missions and Mining.

What… Destiny as in as generic and dry as tissue paper, where the only saving grace was the PvP thanks to Bungie's legacy of PvP games? That Destiny?

Did they update it with a complete replacement of the entire game or something to earn the description in the OP? Ugh

Well, to be honest, kinda yes? I'm of the belief it will get stale again before too long, but for the moment it's so much better than launch that hindsight makes it seem amazing.
