Years before I used to write fiction, it's the name of a character I wrote about. Seemed appropriate.

Not a diplo.

The above post was edited for spelling.

I think Korean is awesome and Shingihada apparently means something like "That's so cool" (but I can't verify it, but either way I think it's cool). And Rubik is just because the Rubiks Cube is awesome.

Because I don't take myself seriously, and it provokes a mixture of reactions.

It's fairly easy to remember, and people generally don't like saying it in comms, which helps me not get primaried... sometimes.Blink

Alphane has been my gamertag since I started playing MMO's with city of heroes years ago. It comes from the name of a Philip.K.**** book 'Clans of Alphane moon'. A book where the loonies have literaly taken over the asylum on a planetary (well lunar anyway) scale.

I've sometimes used titles in other games as well, like Captain in Lotro (which was my charecter class), and so because I was interested in the science aspect of the game when I first created my charecter I chose to call my self Professor Alphane for EVE, never really got anywhere with the research thing but I like the name Smile

I find it amazing how much effort and thought most of you put into their character creation and names.

Shortly after christmas 2007 (or was it 2006?) I was at a good friend of mine who wanted to recruit me for an eve trial account.
I cannot exactly remember that evening (because of large amounts of beer), but it must have been like this:

Mike: "Trust me, you will like Eve. Let`s make a character for you."
me: "Bwha, no, please. Not another MMO, please..."
Mike: "Well, just try it out....let's make a character..."
me: "Hmm. ok. I wanna be a rogue."
Mike: "There are no rogues in eve."
me: "Ok. How about a Wizard?"
Mike: "Nope. Only spaceships."
me: "You're kidding, right?"
Mike: "Trust me, you will like it"
me: "Hmm..not sure..... What's the best race?"
Mike: "Achura. Everyone plays Achura. Achura girls are cute."
(after random character generation)
Mike: "Ok, now you need a name for her"
me: "hmm..let's see....how about something like xXShadowNinjaUberPalaXx ??"
Mike: "I won't type that. That's awful."
me: "hmmm....you just told me about this webcomic you were reading...any good names there?"

ta-dah...Zimmy was born.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

The first character I created was an Intaki male.
After a month of training and reading the forums I realized that having the lowest perception is very bad on long term so I created a new account with an Achura.

I wanted to have an Asian sounding name based on a non Asian name.
Since Jolan is a funny sounding rare female name this is what it has become.

Everyone calls me John on vent tho.

Btw original stats with 3 charisma is so good I still haven't remapped it.

I have always been a bit partial to the name Peter and its variants, and Blackshell was just something that sounded cool since I considered doing piracy when I started (like Blackbeard!).

In retrospect it was a good choice because I really enjoy flying the Malediction (and other Khanid Innovations black ships).

Named after Saint Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuits, Templars were common and douchebags, Jesuits are much cooler IMO and they still exist as an order.

~and~

after Admiral Samuel Hood, 1st Viscount Hood, a mentor to Horatio Nelson (I love age of sail naval history, the entire Hood family and Nelson were hugely influencial and show up alot in British naval history. You can't discuss the British Navy without someone bringing them and Jackie Fisher up.)

I all capped it becuase I'm a moron Sad

All my alts are named after Dragonlance chromatic dragons of ill repute as a nod to my childhood reading habits

Heh. Since I have a notoriously bad imagination when it comes to names I just went to my favourite P&P RPG (The Dark Eye) and looked around for names that I liked. Sirinda in Aventuria is actually an elf... P

After a month of playing I came to the conclusion that THIS is who I wanted to be in EVE, name says it all. I'm filthy with ISK after 6 months, I don't fight other Real Players, And I actually seem to 'Care' about the game. And can I take a moment to say how great it is to NOT be playing with pre-pubescents anymore! EVE is an Adults game, sure some people act childish occasionally, but those real children are off playing some other game. I have not yet met anybody under 30 playing EVE.

Aeril Malkyre
Knights of the Ouroboros
#294 - 2012-01-04 18:04:58 UTC
Aeril Malkyre is a character I made up back in 7th grade. My best friend and I were huge Star Wars nerds, and when I moved away, we took to writing letters* to each other as people living in the Star Wars 'verse. We'd talk about our latest runs, and make up wild stories about planets we'd visited and aliens we'd met. Aeril was a freight hauler who occasionally took smuggling jobs. He wasn't a criminal in his mind, just someone trying to get by.

We lost touch ages ago, but Malkyre or some variant has been my handle on every game I've played since, and in several P&P RPGs as well. He will always be my alter ego in the realms of the virtual.

*I know, letters? AOL was just becoming a thing, email was something only wizards did.

Back in the days of Asheron's Call I was going by "Macabre" and "Sovereign" which I eventually realized was used by everybody and their dog, so I decided to make up a truly original name that I could not find in any use or in any known dictionary.

The result was "Vertiscent". I went by this name for many years and around the time I started playing EvE I decided to shorten it a bit down to "Vertisce" and completely ignored the fact that it looks like a misspelling of the word "Vertice".

"Soritenshi" is simply as close as I could find to the word "Archangel" in Japanese.

Bounties for all! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2279821#post2279821

My name was given to my by my ritual Master during a deep trance session in the middle of the Amazonian Jungle.

I was there bathed and ointed in secret coconut oils and guava essences, mixed with pineapple and mango pastes as sweet smelling sacrifices to the Natural Spirits of the Yanomami tribe.

After inhaling burnt herbs smoke and learning to create Curare poison I travelled with my Piache into a secluded spot on the jungle and was left there alone to fend for myself.

There under the jungle canopy and ointed in several fruit pastes I was promptly covered in ants and other insects. I let the jungle overtake me and as I dwelled on the pain that the insects crawling over my body inflicted me, I had a vision. I was able to see the spirit of the Jungle and be one with the Universal Order.

I was shown the sign of XXX XXX and thus my fate was decreed, I promptly dunk into the river, bathed and removed my old skin and went back to my spiritual mentor and the tribe.

There I was tended for my wounds and lay in a semi conscious state for 4 days as the fevers wracked my body and everything within my frame was expelled, both good and bad, for I was reborn.

I began speaking in tongues and the sign that was my personal guide, taught me many things. I saw the world and the people in it and saw the threads of unity and how certain beings were driven to unravel this web of life.

I was introduced to the concept of the War in the Heavens and the vision was so great I began to convulse.

I almost died but after 4 days of this ordeal I recovered. The Yanomami Piache and some people from the tribe had cared for my wounds.

I was truly a new being, a reborn being ... I was no longer XXXXXXX XXXXXX but XXXXXX-XXXX ... and ... oh you mean EVE Online?

... meh ... Ugh

Dating girls with such fixations in not recommended, unless you also share an interest.
