You are doing something wrong !

I fill my Orca SOLO in :52 minutes, and THAT is at least 21,000,000 ISK.

Small mining fleet

2-3x miners (pref hulks w/ t2 mining drones and mining rigs)
1-2 haulers making runs back to a base to drop off mins so the miners don't have to break cycle
1x boosting orca w/ mining links

- refine on a toon w/ perfect refining, and high standings

don't sell your mins, but rather manufacture **** and sell it

= profit (and plenty of it)

like anything else in eve, if you do it solo, your isk return probably won't be that great, but if you think, train ahead, and form up with some like minded people, the profit margin starts to increase dramatically

actual isk/hour, idk.. but do this in null or low and you'll surely make a fair bit

highsec mining was never meant to be a moneymaker for veteran players, it's something easy for the new folk to get into.

I mined first time around in Eve and when I came back I swore that I'd never do it again.

Its the least profitable occupation and its NOT the occupation with the least risk. That says it all.

Oh and for the "you can do that AFK" people, I can go on holiday and still make isk via trade. I make isk every night while asleep, so "AFK" isn't a good enough justification for how crap mining is.

Edit - and a new character can get into trade much much much faster than mining. Hell my main trade alt has 5mill SP or so, if that.

We are doing our best to thin out the heard; perhaps mining will gain some subtle improvement in profitability soon? Twisted

Seriously, if miners aren't prepared to price fix, then thinning out of the herd is the *only* way you are going to see improvements in profitability. Miners should be paying the gankers to reduce their competition for them (although judging by the comments in this thread miners just can't see why things are like they are)

I just think they need to cut down on the amount of availible ore mysefl.....every damn system has a ton of roids in it. Limiting the number of asteroids raises prices and would make for some exciting competition Twisted

the recent goon attempt to fix the price of gallante ice definatly increased the price of ice, weather or not they made alot of isk i dont know. The serious isk making ventures tend to be things that are not built into the game to make isk but are invested by players. The fewer people that try to make isk from one particular avenue will make more money.

Price fixing, and monopolising supply are really big isk makers.

The No1 enemy of miners IS'NT mining bots it's ratters in the drone regions.

1 simple fix would help ore prices for miners, remove drone poo and treat them just like other NPC rats.

Hulkageddon and the like will sort out the miningbots/AFK'ers/idiots. Twisted

Some people seem to hate mining with a passion. When I first started eve I found the mining ops with my corp to be fun - running around with my little navitas and t1 mining laser filling my cargo hold with an insignificant amount of minerals while the huge orcas and hulks ripped the huge rocks apart. Couple of years later I kinda miss those mining ops but in the end they aren't worth it.

indeed, mining can be fun but with the current isk you get for it, its just a waste of time.

It is not waste of time if person have funn with minning.

You think you are not wasting time. It is game. What ever you do in game is wasting time.

ISK is very important, but FUNN is in first place for some people.

If you score any activity based solely on its profitability, then yes. You are correct.

But if everyone stopped mining, then it would quickly become profitable once again.

You have to remember that mining, as an activitiy is quite passive, you dont physically do that much. unlike incursions which.. although they are 'easy' they do require multi-playing, organising and a lot of pro-active stuff.

Thats why courier missions arnt very profitable.. or even Planatary interaction.

But at some point your going to have so much money that will get bored of incursions and what to invest your riches in something else

just gotta remember that aquiring ISK is an endless quest and that there is far more to life.. er I mean eve :)

Mining is something you can do while being AFK. Low risk, low yield.

Ratting and anom jewing is more hands on, but can still be done while AFK. Ratting nyx any1? Medium risk, medium yield.

Incursions are not an AFK activity. Higher risk, higher yield.

Then again, its all relative.

I can saddle up all my accounts and go ice mining in hisec, making around 72 mil or so for being afk for an hour.

That same fleet will pull in 50 mil an hour mining veld.

Or I could try my luck and use them all to jew incursions and make billions in a few hours.

But why even bother with grinding for isk online via mining or ratting or agents, when I can just setup PI on each account, pull in multiple billions per month, setup a tower or two and spam BPCs that also net me billions per month for being OFFLINE?

I don't understand how you can be afk for a hour. you have to move the ice or ore from your hold in to a container of some sort dont you after a period of time?

When I started I did a lot of afk mining since I was filling an industrial with a mining laser. Took an hour and a half a load. I don't do that anymore but I still like to mine. Finding a good belt makes me happy. I now have a second account for the Orca so hauling is easy.

I manufacture and play market as well, so mining fits in nicely. Not as profitable as other things, but I can squeeze in some mining whenever I want without it being a problem. I like to mine and I like to make and sell stuff. That about sums it up.

Been in null. Hated it with an unbridled fury. Boring beyond belief. Low sec was okay, but no profit in it at all. So I'm back in high sec for better game play. Just like Goons, who also came to high sec to gank unarmed ships because null was so *awesome* that even ganking was better.

According to the CSM Chairman, mining is a waste of time, yes. Actually everything in high-sec is a waste of time. New players should immediately report to null sec to be ganked and griefed by his alliance and like it.

When we are so rich that we can reimburse Machariels the need for straight up trolling is seriously diminished.
