So i decide to try sisi out again after a few months not being on it. and i see this

When running on test servers, the EVE Online client gathers data that is used to help us improve the quality and performance of the client.

This data may include personally identifiable information and be transmitted to, processed and/or stored on 3rd party servers as well as on CCP's network.

Do you agree to send us your data? If you do not agree, the client will terminate.

Why does CCP need ANY personal data, and why does it need to share this information with others? The last line is the best, basically if you don't allow CCP they stop you playing on the test server

WTF!!!!

Because without it, it'll be more difficult for them to troubleshoot and bug hunt the client and/or the middleware they make use of.

But why do they need MY personal information for that? Fine for bug hunting thats technical data, I'm ok with that. But my personal data?

Opting out?
There is no opting out – if you don't want us to get this data then don't log in to a test server. Nothing will change on Tranquility, this data gathering only applies to test servers.

I stopped testing because of that. They could do anything with it. Even sell it to some Greenland eskimo mafia. I heard they have connections from time when they were still danes. Pirate

Because it identifies your setup as a particular entity that exhibits (or doesn't exhibit) the issue they're trying to resolve.

It's not personal data in the regular sense. They're not skimming your CC# or your address book. It's personally identifiable information — stuff that ties the use of the client to you and your computer.

They need YOUR personal information, because they are clearly out to get you. Certainly, they've never asked my personal information. Anybody else who says CCP have asked for theirs are lying, and clearly in on it.

Also, "personal information" does not mean your social security number or the pin number to your bank card, or that they are installing key-logger software. If I was to hazard a guess...I'd say it's your account ID.

When a person is insane, as you clearly are, do you know that you're insane? Maybe you're just sitting around, reading 'Guns and Ammo', masturbating in your own faeces...do you just stop and go, 'Wow! It is amazing how f*cking crazy I really am!'?

Personal information in this case is probably a unique hardware ID and possibly your account details, nothing that other developers don't gather, and considerably less than some.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

We have to bring your siggie into all the change rants. Love how the first response to the now love tiericide was "No. All good."

The ratting itself is PvE. Getting away with it is PvP.

You can opt out. Don't play the game.

Section 7.D of the EULA (hint, not just the test server)

Quote:
D. MONITORING

You agree that CCP may remotely monitor your Game hardware solely for the purpose of establishing whether in playing the Game and accessing the System you are using software created or approved by CCP, or whether you are using unauthorized software created by you or a third party in contravention of Section 6.

And are you honestly losing sleep over a company knowing the hardware specs of your computer? That isn't PII under HIPPA/Reg S-P/etc.

Wut? Seriously? Roll Internet anonymity ends when you sign up for an account (though it's not shared). They know my name, address, DOB, payment details ...omg I'm so screwed? And if you read the stickies in the sisi forum, they also want your system info so to help them find bugs, or you just opt out and don't do it. So if you think they don't already know who you are, then you probably lied when you signed up to play EVE, imo worthy of a ban hah.

I'm in it for the money

The way I read this, is CCP gathers data on system performance. This data include hardware information, system setup, network data, etc... In collecting this data they may inadvertently collect personally identifiable information (note, this is not personal data... It is however specific enough information on your system that it could, in theory, be reverse engineered to identify you.) They do not want or need your personal data, but personally identifiable information is sometimes accidental by-catch of the process of gathering testing data.
