After much procrastination, I am about to queue up Sentry Drone Interfacing 5 so I can get to T2 sentries. Just need to know once more how much better they are....

Got tired of using the excuse of " faction drones are almost the same" so here we go......

Drones die. Faction drones cost a bloody fortune. T2 drones cost a far smaller fortune. It's an SP vs ISK thing.

Woo! CSM XI!

Not in the case of sentry drones. T2 are just plain way, way better even than faction sentries. Extra damage, extra optimal, extra falloff... there's just no comparison.

The fact that T2 sentries are also cheaper is just icing.

I have solid combat drone skills - T2 scout/medium, T2 heavies, T2 sentries. Trained them in that order.

Since I trained T2 sentries the only time I've used heavy drones at all is when I'm AFKing Guristas or Serpentis missions in a PST Ishtar. For all practical PVE purposes, T2 sentries aren't just an upgrade to T1 sentries, they're a flat-out replacement for T1/T2 heavies as well.

IME the only exception is Angel missions - if you're flying a drone boat without drone mods, Bouncers are kinda crap.

I've since moved on to missile boats - a CNR with T2 Gardes puts out a SWEET amount of DPS.

Arrow In short, T2 sentries are worth the training time.

The purchase of a Rattler convinced me it was time to do this even though I am in a perception/willpower state with no remaps for a bit.

The odds of mapping specifically for drones are pretty slim anyhow (you pretty much have to train capital skills to make a full year worthwhile). Per/will is slightly faster on drone skills than int/mem, so you might as well go for it.

Nah, you just need to spend 2 years mapped to perc/willpower and find that there's virtually nothing left to train. A year of electronics/drones is pretty easy to justify after that. :P
