I think there should be a separate chat channel that opens, when you enter a station one that is, solely for the guests who are docked up within that station.
this additional channel could help people communicate better in areas where local is busy and possibly help you chat over the scammers without cutting them out of the game.
I simply feel this will be more immersive and makes sense.

I really don't care about the separate chat, BUT

I would support this if it blocked local chat from being seen while docked. >=D

What makes you think the spammers wouldn't be in station local too?

This would be a very powerful free intel tool. A comparison to the local list would quickly tell you who is docked and who is not. A simple online tool could make that comparison in a matter of milliseconds from a Copy + Paste of both lists, even in Jita, and I have no doubt it would be up and running within 30 minutes of this change being implemented.

Bottom line: Too much free intel. Nice idea, not practical.

fyi we have this already.

However i'd like the station chat. Then i could chat with everyone that has the rights to dock in that nullsec-staging.
What about the PFR guys, they must like this.

Anyway, if that chat gets real, then ...
.. we might see an update of localchat as well. (show just number of players in system).

I think station chat should replace local - period. This would be an awesome addition to the game. Local chat could still be a thing, but you only show up in it if you type in it. Station chat, you show up if you dock.

Let's get this done.

Why not set the Local Chat and Station Chat Channels up as Subscriber Channels? If you want to chat locally or in a station subscribe to that channel. It would eliminate the chat spamming because you wouldn't be subscribed to he channel. Maybe have local members who are always in system such as Jita conducting trades monitor the channels to keep spam to a minimum.

Or just set the channel respond time to ten seconds between each post that involve links.
