Simple suggestion, time stamp PLEX so that if they are not used within 12 month of purchase they become worthless.

Would stop the crazy price manipulation in this item and also make more income for CCP.

It is now impossible to use the current server architecture to sell PLEX. Good job.

I pay with cash. Always have, always will.

I find these threads no end of hilarious.

But I'm old, I'm used to paying for things.

The market can't handle subgroups elegantly; it would need to be done entirely with contracts. And contracts lack the public tracking data that the market has. That and PLEX on contracts are always scams -- even when they aren't -- means this stops nearly all PLEX trade.

I too deal entirely in cash.

Why should price manipulation of plex not be allowed?

You are on the right track.

The problem is that items need to be packaged before being put on the market. When an item is packaged it loses any unique identifier and becomes nothing more than another number in the database.

To sell a PLEX with a more or less unique time stamp you will need to either sell the PLEX via contracts or have a separate entry for each date on the market.

This couldn't have just been added to the other whine thread that is on the first page?

I pay for three accounts with cash. I can earn that $36/mo in an hour IRL. To date, I haven't found a way to earn 3.5 bil ISK in an hour in game.

If anyone can tell me how to do that in game, let me know and I will start to buy plex.

Scamming is the only way to achieve that but it sure as hell isn't something you can rely on to produce steady income.

How do you know there is price manipulation? Do you have some data an analysis to back it up? Explain the logic of this.

See here for a recent discussion. It is a long one, but worth a look, some interesting points raised. I came to the conclusion that it'd be breaking the terms of sale to allow Plexes to devalue/depreciate, needs more consideration.

I'm more inclined to suggest CCP revert Plex to ETCs via forum trades to make speculation more fiddly.* It acted as a valve to control relisting because people in a real hurry to sell would massively undercut big blocks, and resellers often failed to cash in on those. It's probably too late to try implement now that masses of people are hoarding them as an easy form of passive income. There's another issue in terms of caps/supers being so redundant at the moment that people don't have much reason to sell significant amounts of Plex, plus there's no massive conflicts to fund. Hopefully we'll see something shift on that soon.

There needs to be a bigger discussion about the subscription model as a whole, and I get the impression it's already in the works at a higher level. Keep your eyes peeled. It is a good thing people are commenting on this though IMO, shows a degree of discomfort in people being priced out of playing, so fair play for putting this up.

*ed. Also consumed/redeemed upon purchase
