The Pilgrim - Worth training for?

Hey

I am curious to see what my fellow space friends feel about the Pilgrim and wether it is a good solo/small gang PvP ship to train for?

I don't see it out in space often and was wondering if there is a reason for this?

On paper, this ship looks very 'sneaky' and looks like it could find & deal with nice juicy victims on its own.

What do you guys & girls think?

Is it worth training for or would you recommend other ships to train with the time instead?

Kind Regards,

Pilgrim is a very specialized boat, wich tends to see more use in scenarios where small gang pvp happens or ganks in 0.0 type space where you want to sneak up on your prey wich may be doing pve in combat anomalies or mining.
Word of advise avoid engaging missile ships and minmatar ships solo with the pilgrim..and possibly avoid drone boats and you should do fine Smile

Yes definitely, because it unlocks the Curse.

Depending on what you are planning to use it for, you are better with either curse or startios.

The pilgrim got a massive buff with the nos/neut range bonus meaning it can now operate in a small recon gang using its neuts without having to get into tackle range. Then it all depends if that gang is based on cloakies or not, If it does then the Pilgrim is just fine.

It can also work for solo stuff but, just as with the Curse, there's limitations on what you can attack. a Stratios will do more DPS but lacks the neuting bonuses and is more expensive. It all depends on personal preference and scenario.

So if you enjoy sneaky cloaky stuff and you agree that having a cloak must mean that you're less effective in combat (to balance it) then you'll be fine. If you're part of a larger roaming gang that doesn't make use of cloaks then you're probably better off with a Curse.

lot of people roamed solo with pilgrims because of the cloaky nature combined with neuting capability and DPS with it's drones.

Of course you will have to pick your targets, don't gor for those missile and ac ships that can rip you apart without cap for example.

Thanks for the info guys!

Sounds like its definitely a ship in which I would want to gather intel before engaging a target Twisted

The sneaky gank style has always been my preference in all the games I've played so sounds like this is perfect for me to go for!

Although the Stratios is also something maybe to look at but preferably would like to max a race as much as possible before branching out to other races :)

Thanks <3

Cause it's cloaked duh

Serious answer: EWAR is underused bare for falcons and scram range ships

Wat. Neuts are very popular and extremely powerful.

Pilgrim is solid but only if you plan to utilize the cloak to it's fullest. If you're just going to use it for normal combat then a Curse is far superior.

curses are hard to armour tank whereas the pilgrim has an extra low.

It's a bit weird how they rebalanced the recons, for example the rapier almost has identical tank to the huginn and can fit missiles which makes far more sense in it's role.

Falcon also somehow became the rail ship as well

Neuts are not ewar. Pro tip: look at the market categories for the relevant skills and modules.

More importantly: ships that are immune to ewar (supercaps, sieged dreads, triaging carriers and marauders in bastion) can still be neuted...

Okay fine, it's cap warfare Roll. Nonetheless ewar is still popular, unbonused TDs are very common in small ship fights, damps are a core part of successful kiting fleets, unbonused damps can also be very useful in smaller engagements (my alliance runs Vexors with damps in small cruiser fights to screw over ECM/Logi). ECM as noted is still popular and effective. TPs are mostly for damage application in large battles like assisting blap dreads.

Overall Ewar sees alot of use on bonused and unbonused hulls.
