Thank you all for helping with this mass test. Unfortunately we had some graphical problems for dx9 clients (which were completely unrelated to Brain in a Box, and which are already fixed). Otherwise we identified a few important issues (weapon groups, stuck at explosion, ...) which are currently being worked on. The server performance looked very promising (apart from a small memory leak, which was identified), but this will need confirmation in a later mass test with more players.

Skill points have been applied on Singularity and Duality for all players who managed to log in for this test (even if they failed to participate because of bugs).

Thank you for letting me participate in the Mass Test at 1700 on 9/15/15 I was piloting an executioner I died once. I did not experience any issues during the test however I have not received the points for participating. Did I do something wrong to be disqualified?

Okay forgive my ignorance on the matter but I was under the impression the points would have been applied to my character on the Tranquility server however I see them on my character on the Duality server, is this correct??

Mass test skill points are only for singularity and duality. If the 2M went to TQ, you'd see 50,000 people show up for every test Big smile

So correct me if I am wrong.

CCP has an issue with something and they need the help of the members of the game to solve that issue. They reward us with skill points that can only be used in the test servers? However the test servers are overwritten monthly as I understand with Tranquility hence erasing the SP they reward us with. Also as long as I am activly training in Traquility, by the time they update the test servers my SP will be higher than that in the test server so the points rewarded still wont get me to where I actually am in Tranquility. Not only are the SP not worth anything in the test server because they eventually take them away and they will rarely if ever surpass my current SP in tranquility so the idea of I can test things there is worthless.

With all that being said we are asked to help solve an issue the developers can't figure out on their own and essentially given nothing to spend hours setting up ships and then executing the test. Can someone tell me in detail why anyone would waste thier time?

I will never participate in an another single test and I will advise anyone who asks me if they should not to as well. If I would receive SP in Tranquility for taking my time to help them out then I would do it every time. It's called being paid for my time.

Offer less points in traquility then OR have enrolment to the test. say the first 200 to apply to test get to partake.

But that would be putting you ahead of people who have spent years of training whist you get to where they are at in a few months? That wouldn't be right and unfair!
They do not "erase" you SP they rest it back to 10 mill SP because it seems reasonable and also if you want more to test with you have to participate in masstests!
I do however believe we should keep all the SP we earn through the masstests on the servers after every mirror and be able to have certain ships which we can not buy on the market (like super carriers & titans) But have a certain amount seeded but we have to train to use them ships though and be a restriction on how many you can use (Like a cool down period).

Singularity has, by its design, features which allow you to test current ships and skills. "/copyskills" is the command, so you'll never be at a point where your TQ skills outweigh those in sisi, especially if you get the mass test SP boosts. Also, if you're so concerned about your SP numbers, they added the skill queue a couple years ago. They also don't go away after each mirror. They carry over, you just need to apply them again.

Also, there are huge benefits to using the test servers in tandem with TQ. Say, for example, you want a new ships for running missions, or want to try out a new PVP fit. Instead of sinking your time, energy, ISK, and corpse into a blind test, you can ACTUALLY test disposable fits at one of the PVP systems. It can also save you the TQ training time if you find out you don't like the ship. 1 hour of time is pretty easy to justify when it's almost 2 months of testing potential.

Also, since this is an MMO, a lot of the systems they test require the presence of players for them to generate any feedback. As far as I understand, brain in a box is trying to lower the response time for modules and calculations, and the benefits increase with the number of people. So, in this scenario, player support is required. This isn't even uncommon in the video game industry, as most game releases and expansions have betas so people can test the stability and balance.
