Well the difference is then you have two hobbies, and you may need to pick one between the two if you don't have time for both. Or you have it backwards where you make EVE into work and the editor into a hobby which doesn't seem to work as the hobby will always win. And yes I know the learning curve of 3D modeling, thousands of hours of repetitive practice to even show intermediate work quality. That is your own set priority, putting other things and even learning your editor over EVE, and something only you can sort out if you don't want to manage a balance. Getting good at modeling takes years, and can be a burnout just as much as playing a game if overdone obsessively.

CCP can do nothing regarding PLEX. They have only slowed down steep increases, but there is no way to bring prices down other than making EVE suck. The Chinese server pays over 3b a PLEX last I heard, and with far lower PCU than we do. I find it more than likely TQ will hit 2b in coming years or even months possibly depending on circumstances. I welcome it, as there will likely be less people farming which does pump ISK into the system. It's claimed by some that PLEX doesn't effect the game, but I see it as a carrot for players to farm ISK where they would have not otherwise. Now they get spoiled on it and just leave the game feeling too entitled to pay, where as they may have not done so if PLEX never existed.



So true. I think I was getting a little bored doing the same things over and over in Eve. Like I said I do not play games, but I am having a great time trying to create Eve.

Like you said, it takes years to learn, but I'm an Eve player. We are all about learning curves Lol

When you say farming, do you mean people using bots to auto-print isk or people just PVEing with multiboxing chars?

It always felt a little dirty using PLEX to me. Why play a game if you can just use real life money to achieve things in it? I'd rather just pay the subscription and feel like I accomplished something...

The challenge was what got me into the game. Never mind the learning curve, but throw in 800 Mill in 20 days as well, it made the game twice as fun.

Nope, just farming. Botting is botting. It doesn't even need to be pve I guess, you could technically farm other players haha, but yeah in pve it mostly means. It just means gathering large amounts of game currency or certain items, sort of in an easy or repetitive task to gain big amounts of whatever, usually a single type of item or such. A term used since UO and most every other mmo I've played. And not making a connection to gold farming, which too is farming but usually done illegally for RMT. Just legal farming, that was all I meant. Even mining could be considered farming, especially if the ore is being sold.

So like an extreme example: I use to pelt farm in EQ1 (good use for ranger). I'd hunt certain animals for no other reason than to gather their pelts/furs, to use and/or to sell, usually very rare pelts. No money or xp on them, not even a challenge other than tracking them, just drop them over and over and over as quick as they would spawn until I had the stacks I wanted.

So you don't play games, you just waste your free time grinding ISK to not play the game? For what? So you have another month where you can grind for a PLEX so you can continue to not play the game?

I too have a busy life and a job, and I would never waste my precious free time grinding virtual money in a game to save the laughable amount of money for a subscription (if you have a job).

Also EVE is not free2play, and you are not entitled to a PLEX. They don't get seeded by CCP in the market but by other players. If you have a problem with the price then complain to them, they actually pay your sub.

I am getting one more PLEX tomorrow, but I am not sure about the following months. I heard the Citadel is coming out December so I might stay in without taking a break.

As soon as somebody complains, someone is always "Captain Obvious" by saying this. I'm Sorry, but I know and I'm one of the ones that put in the work and buying multiple PLEX's. But 1.46 Bil.

Sorry Captain Obvious is currently unavailable. I'll be his replacement for the time beeing.

So heres my friendly advice: PLEX price is to high? Do something about it and buy a PLEX from the store and sell it on the market to bring down PLEX price.

I do feel for your position. I hope prices never become so extreme that we start to lose droves of players who grind for their sub, losing players enmasse is always bad no matter the reason, I guess.

Though in saying that I personally haven't seen that much rage about the prices, to be honest.

And as someone who funds their EVE from selling plex I have to say these prices are amazing. Big smile

4 plex and I got a new Moros the other day, fitted and delivered, with spending money left over. Pirate

From what I read in this thread I doubt your sub is in any danger at all. The prices will drop again, eventually.
