how did the test go? any performance improvement compared to the last one?

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Tbh, last time we ran this test I got stuck into the jumping screen and disconnected many times when I was shooting the POS and only time I crashed was when I got podded.

Thank you for helping yesterday in the test. Skill points have been applied on both Singularity and Duality.

I am currently going through all the bug reports and server errors - thank you for sending as many reports!

Short summary of results:
* Player count was a bit lower than hoped
* Server performance was good (but difficult to interpret due to low player count)
* We found several major bugs - but not many (it seems like most problems were caused by 2-3 bugs).

Hi!
I have a strange trouble with login to duality during mass test: server cannot load my location and I return to character select screen.
Screenshot here: http://c2n.me/3m8RukE
I've try to login all the time of mass test, but got only fails.

Can you correct this error or move me to any other working location?

I watched the Eve Fanfest 2015 presentation about Brain in a Box and was very intrigued to learn that skills are actually items in a hidden cargo hold. I am assuming that this is the reason why you have to manually pause your skill training before jumping to a clone and then manually restart your skill training? It might also have to do with implants applying different attributes.. but in any case once a separate node like Brain in a Box handles skill points and stat calculations, can you PLEASE make skills automatically pause and restart (or not be affected at all) when you jump to a clone? I have lost days and days of skill training because I forgot to manually restart my skills and I am sometimes paranoid that my skills might not be training when I am AFK. I am excited for this change and always happy to hear about EVEs code base being refactored Lol

Skills are actually located in your character, not in your cargo hold. The process which monitors skill training thus has to live on the same node as the inventory system so that it is not causing yielding cross node calls all the time. Thus when your character 'moves places', the skill training process has to move places because the character inventory is located in his 'new place' so that the character isn't doing yielding cross node calls every time he does an inventory operation. This is however a bit of a lie since inventory ops are persisted into the database but there's no reason to try and work around that because MMO's need persistence. But fewer yielding calls are preferable to many..er. Manyer is now a word.

This makes perfect sense if you understand Dogma, EVE's item attribute system. I'm not going to explain Dogma to you so just take my word for it or watch Team Gridlock's last Fan Fest presentation again.

This all aside, this is the reason for why your skill queue training is messed with on clone jumps. You are changing locations, which means you are changing inventory services which in turn means that your skills are being handled by a different node and this is all about as volatile and prone to overly dramatic issues as I was during my goth phase.

But now skills are not items, they are no longer handled by the various location bound inventory services but rather your character node. Your character node is a function of your unique identifier and does thus not change. There is thus no reason to pause anything on inventory location changes, only on character changes. So once we push this out you shouldn't have to worry about losing any training time or skill points on inventory service changes anymore.

Now, losing training time or skill points on the migration / deployment of Biab... that's a different discussion! Pirate
