…or more accurately, I doesn't particularly care about likes because I don't notice them. I turned like-notifications off when the old new forums went live in… March? April? early Triassic? and at first I was very confused about what the whole upset was about until someone reminded me to go back and look at the settings page. Lol

i am jelly of your 4000+ likes. TEACH ME YOUR WAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's called scripting the "like" button - Just check the graph - Linkage

And yeah, EVE-Search always been tracking your likes... easy to spot when likes gone mad lol Lol

Or, rather, it's called “DSQ scripting his like-button” P

But yeah, I should only be on 2,500 or so without the spam shower.

Yeah I wasn't pointing at you doing it yourself (since we all got those entries in the graph kinda) - meant the overall scripting of the like button

This thread is full of data which on its' on carries no meaning.
As such it remains an abstraction and requires information as well as knowledge.

I am contributing towards the data as I have no information or knowledge on the subject of "like"-scripting.

I now feel light-headed and have puked a bit in my mouth.

Everyone gets a like for my reaction.

I had fun yesterday liking every post in this thread, then un-liking every post, so that today I can go back and re-like every post, so later today I can go back and un-like all the posts. Do second re-liking notifications go out I wonder?

I have been thinking about that myself- but dislikes alone would not work. They would be an incentive for weird people like me (and there are a lot of them on this forum) to go on a dislike-harvesting spree.
I think there would be one good solution for a like/dislike system: People can like or dislike any post they want (with or without notification of the poster)- those likes/dislikes would show up on the posts normally, but the "Likes received" below the avatar should be removed. Result: Like- or dislike harvesting would be pointless, but you still can get a feedback on the single post /argument, bit not on the person posting. So it would be more important what is said than who says it- the general quality of the posts may increase with such a system.

Oh, and if you edit your post, all likes/dislikeas should be reset to zero- else it is too easy to abuse the edit feature.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Can you turn the like option to a 1-10 rating system to rate peoples trolls.

And within a few minutes there will be a script, the Goons will be blamed for everyone having a negative rating and before you know it people will be looking for dislikes, pretending to be hardcore instead of hi-sec carebears.

You know how it will go ...

Yeah, I don't use the like script, but I'd abuse the hell out of a dislike script.

Likes are pretty much becoming the "forum posts" count. Chribba will likely come up with a formula. X number of likes divided by Y = total number of forum posts. :)

I used to hate the likes feature for what it looked like. "Like" is not something I do.

Then I realized its a good mechanic for devs to sort out the popular opinions out of the random ones. So if you see someone ask/propose something to devs and you approve the idea, then like the post.

True. But since you can edit every single post to anything you like after it has received its likes, this feature is obsolete.
