Out of Pod Experience

Hey Guys,

here is Tamborius' wife speaking.
I am going to do my Masters (Viking & Medieval Norse Studies) in Iceland and I am going to arrive next week in Iceland.
I already have everything I need to get my Icelandic ID (Kennitala) and to complete my enrollment. Furthermore I was lucky enough to get a student housing flat, but now comes the catch.
The student housing told me, that I can only move into my flat , if I've got the Icelandic ID (Kennitala), which can take up to 5 weeks as far as I've heard, however the University of Iceland says it will take "up to two weeks".

My concern is now, that I won't be able to move into my flat (already paid rent for) until end of September (Worst case scenario).
Long story short, I need a couch to crush on for some days/weeks. I really don't know anyone, but so far I have managed to find one couch to stay on for the first few days.
I tried couchsurfing.com, I calculated hostels and B&Bs but for such a long time of 5 five weeks it is impossible for me to afford that.

So my clever Husband told me to try it here. I heard how helpful and awesome this community is, so I am going to try my luck.
If anyone has a couch for some days/weeks in Reykjavik, it would be great. I can share food expenses, cook & bake, clean & can take care of animals if necessary.

Just a little update:

Today I tried to complete my registration at Reykjavik University and even though they don't accept my
preliminary degree (since every f***ing person who has something to do with completing the real one
went on holiday for months), I was able to move into my flat.

Now my old university just has to sent them either my real degree or a preliminary they accept.
