"This week in EVE" is a weekly overview of EVE Online related news and events and shows what is going on in EVE Online. The focus of this overview is on official news from CCP: For example, dev blogs and important forum posts by CCP developers, the ever evolving background story and upcoming events. The previous weekly overview can be found here.

The current "This week in EVE" gives an overview of the week from August 29th to September 4th

Dev blogs and announcements
Congratulations to the Alliance Tournament XIII Winner
Alliance Tournament XIII was a fantastic event showing exciting matches together with brilliant commentary. Over the course of three weeks we saw 32 alliance teams fighting crazy battles until we finally saw Warlords of the Deep emerging as winner of this tournament. Congratulations!

Valklear Glory Designer Skins Now Available
The "Valklear Glorly" Designer Skin line for Minmatar ship hulls (except Navy ships and Industrials) are now available in the New Eden Store - a total of 40 new SKINs. This line amalgamate yellow features and an elegant grey baseline into a prominent new look. More information about Designer SKINs can be found in the Designer SKIN dev blog.

Exploit Notification - Delaying CONCORD Response
Trying to delay the response of CONCORD, for example by jettisoning ships or drones into space, is not allowed. We consider this practice now (since the public announcement made on September 1st) being an exploit under the Suspension and Ban policy.

CSM
CSM X - Topics of the first Summit
The player elected Council of Stellar Management (CSM) visits CCP Headquarters twice a year to discuss EVE Online with game designers and the production team. The first summit for CSM X takes place in Reykjavik, Iceland, from September 14 to 17. CCP Leeloo, the CSM coordinator, presents the list of topics/sessions of the summit. As usual, shortly after the summit we will have available the meeting minutes of the summit sessions for the player community. You can also check the meeting minutes of previous CSM summits to get an impression what those summits are about.

Issues and workarounds
Blackscreen issues? Try running the rescache file
If you encounter a black screen issue during game play or while trying to log into EVE, then the rescache program might help you. A black screen can be caused by corrupt resource cache files. Using the rescache tool will in most cases resolve the issue: Simply close the client and EVE Launcher, then run the rescache program (you find it in your EVE program folder, or - if you are using a Mac - download it), and then start EVE again.

Issues updating to the latest patch?
If you have problems updating to the latest patch on Windows 10, then please follow CCP Explorers instructions.Download the Slim Installer and install it on top of the existing installation. Then run the rescache tool (available in the EVE program folder, instructions available here) as admin and verify the shared cache. In many cases this will fix the problems.

Technical
Is EVE playable on a MacBook?
CCP Darwin confirms that EVE is definitely playable on MacBooks, but raises the point that the actual performance depends on the specification (CPU, GPU etc.). Please be also aware that the performance of the EVE Mac client is something we are working on to improve, but no details are available at this time.

Testing and test server
New mirror for Singularity
The test server Singularity has been updated with a new database copy from Tranquility (which is called "mirror"). Skillpoint rewards for participation in the previous 7 mass-tests have been applied.

Tournaments
Suggestions for improvements
While the AT XIII was well received and an enjoyable event to participants and viewers, we would like to hear your suggestions on what we can improve further. Let us know what you want to see more or what wasn't that interesting.

So does this mean that CODE.'s use of rookie ships/shuttles in a safe spot to remove concord from the grid (around gates) is an exploit?

Does it matter if these "distraction" ships were launched by out of corp (non offender) entities?

CCP Quant: Accounts per player
CCP Quant did run a little competition: Guess the average account per player number. If the answer interests you, then check out the diagrams showing the account density and the cumulative account density. The accounts per player over time are pretty stable. All in all we see the accounts per player in the interval [1.35; 1.65] with a midpoint of 1.5. It looks like the guesses were a bit too high, but not terribly far off.

(...)

That's interesting and... low. I'm suprised that my 3 accounts put me in a small niche of 8% of players (guess that our dear multiboxers and their 18 accounts per head are just extremely rare).

Of course, it makes sense compared to other demographic data we know, like, how many players are solo PvErs in highsec, and how many players are less than 2 years old, but also is puzzling compared to the price of PLEX and the decline of PCU (according to some, both are related to account consolidation and multiple character training).

Food for thought...

I beleive that this was a result of globby using "Superhyperdunking" to spam shuttles from a Bowhead to stall CONCORD, not CODE. doing their thing.

Chill. They just showed us what they can do with visuals. Now we will have to wait 1-2 years to implement it. Not even a word about explosions from fanfest half year ago and you want new props?
