In general I'd say no, but I'm sure there are plenty of specific examples where a good case could be made for yes. I tend to avoid those discussions as it just starts to sound like rabble rabble rabble after a few posts.

I'd say a lot of it is venting that is non constructive because the individual player (and sometimes groups) doesn't see an immediate and easy adaptation, although most of them seem to shut up not too long after release. at least with the new release cycle CCP can make adjustments far quicker than on the 6 month cycle. A lot of it seems to come out as yall suck at your jobs. to which I'm sure most ccp'ers want to say back you suck at the game, but that would just cause a shitstorm.

No. When they do, they just get permabanned, like Ginger Magician.

Yes, but they only do it because CCP mercilessly provokes the playerbase with screenshots of this, whispers of rumours of that...and does a complete about-face a week later.

Perfection is a dish best served like wasabi .

I must admit I read some of the rabble rousing and attempts to gather up support and wonder if it's an attempt to negotiate that just slides out of control. Doesn't help that we bludgeoned CCP (successfully) over Incarna by throwing an epic tantrum. Although I was always impressed that they listened and made such an abrupt u-turn, it set a precedent for player demands/protests. It feels like we don't manage player protests in a constructive way, if that makes sense.

Whining about changes, loudly at that, has become a common political tool players use in a VERY BROAD range of games, not just EVE.

Check the forums for CoD, Destiny, private/emulated MMO servers. More enterprises are willing to get on the videogame entertainment bandwagon, without actually having any experience in the field and are directly caving into the players biased demands, further empowering them and destabilizing the perspective of the developers.

That's not to say players are wrong. It's just discussions are rarely objective and critical, rarely discussions all together, which narrows the perspective and scope of the problem(s).

It's a cultural paradigm that can be seen in many walks of life. Players are becoming the job level project managers of the video game industry, by screaming loudly "I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO YOUR JOB, BUT MY INEXPERIENCED GUT FEELING IS TELLING ME YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG!"

(c) FozzieSov. How many people supported that before it came out? And how many more cried against it when it was released?

I think i crossed the line once when I called Fozzie a 'gang of squirrels in a man costume who infiltrated CCP because they heard that the staff was nuts'.. and I did insinuate that Fozzie liked to sneak bites from his co-workers taco platters during company sponsored dinners... Oh! and i did try to coin the celebrity couple name Rozzie back when it was the Fozzie and Rise show during the rebalancing initiative start... i think i accused Falcon of making bad dad puns at least 4 times... and I did turn in that FOIA request due to the utter iron curtain of information surrounding CCP NakedMan... also.. pretty sure on more than one occasion said I was going to hang CCP Eterne over a pit filled with ill tempered sea bass while i monologued about my nefarious plans...

I find your particular art form intriguing and I would like to purchase your compilation album.
