Damage Control

Dear CCP, please remove Damage Control II and all the other modules from the game.

*in before flamewar*

Reasoning; its "useless", it looks like a medical-kit, it adds nothing to the game. Because all sane people with sane ship fittings use it anyway. It is an active module??? But it only uses 1 GJ per cycle??? Whats the point?

So here is my suggestion:

Remove all damage control units, remove one low-slot from all ships that said module(s) is usually fitted to. And apply DCU T2 bonuses to all of those ships.

tl;dr: its ugly, its active instead of passive, its redundant.

So you want to remove this useful module, remove a low slot and thus remove fitting options, because you say so.

I'll have to say no thanks.

would this not be completely pointless, with only possible negative effects? having one less low slot would not be welcomed (people want to decide if they want to fit the dc or not, (forcing this takes eve in the direction of making everything the same ie. forcing a fit type on a ship.)

one part of your point i agree with is, the cost of damage control is redundant. just make it a passive effect.

A number of fits do not include DCUs:
Lots of frigates
Stealth Bombers
Tackle Interceptors - need lows for speed
Industrials - who can be bothered to activate it every jump
Destroyers
Falcons - If they are in range your out of luck, better to have an ewar buff there
Many miners

Sure there are more.
Don't force DCUs on people who don't want/need them

I use damage control on most shiptypes mentioned in that list :-)

The one thing that does make the damage control a MUST-HAVE item is the extra resist to shield and armor... I wouldn't mind those attributed being removed for a more varied gameplay.

Nah. The choice to use a DCU is a tactical choice that does make things interesting in the game. In PvP and PvE there are a number of viable fits that do not use a DCU which adds welcomed variety to the game.

10/10. Was giving up hopes for some good bait threads in the new year, but this one not bad. Not bad at all.

SERIOUSLY?????

I find DC very usufull...i has saved me planty of times and it doesn't consume energy allowing me to use the MWD without any problem!!!!

Plus the 50% structure resistances saved me while i was doing a mission...

You just can't really use all the modules....

I used to think it would be nice if we didn't have to cycle the DC in order to have it function. Since gotten over that though.

I think the idea is good.

The module is _too useful_ from the game mechanics point of view and too from the sci-fi point of view it can't be justified one ship module to increase the resistances of shield, armor and structure all at once. Sorry it doesn't make sense.

Remove it from the game, you must be high?

I only fit DCUs for hull resists if I expect to take hull damage. I only expect haul damage if I'm passing through hostile territory in something like a hauler or a strategic cruiser. I never use it combat. Still, it could use a better icon graphic.

Counter-proposal: Add faction/deadspace/officer variants. Comical hull tanking FTW.
