I've just come back after a long absence, and I think my previous profession is no longer tenable. I used to put out large buy orders for loot on the market, truck it back to a centralized base, recycled it, and then resold the minerals. The mechanics for recycling apparently changed about a year ago, but all the threads I could find were from 2014, so I just wanted to double-check nothing has changed since then.

The only things that currently effect the recycling efficiency for modules are the base yield (50%, unless you have a Minmitar POS) Scrap Metal Processing skill (Up to a 10% boost of base yield,) and an implant of some sort, correct?

If that's correct, mineral content of ores were increased to make up the changes for miners, but scrap metal processing didn't get any boost at all? Is there any way to make money the way I used to, or is Scrap Metal Processing basically useless?

People used to use modules as a way to compress minerals for shipping. The reprocessing changes were intended to stop that by making it impossible to recover 100% of the minerals. We got compression arrays instead.

Max efficiency for scrap metal reprocessing in an NPC station is around 54%. If you can get the loot cheap enough it may be worth doing but probably not as a career.

Max reprocessing efficiency in NPC stations is actually 55% (with Scrapmetal Processing V and no taxes)

Not only was mineral content in some ores increased, but compressed ore was made smaller, and easier to compress.
