Rather than having to un-dock it would be a nice feature to be able to assign drones to groups from the in station fitting screen.

Also a set of module buttons to launch, retrieve, and order drones to engage without having to use the pull down menu.

Perhaps a set of 4 way toggle switches on the opposite side of the Cap Hud, from the modules? These could be a cross that you click one of 4 points on for each group, Down for Return to Bay, Up for Launch/Orbit, Right for Engage Target, left to abandon.

Anyone want to back the common sense on this?

This idea has been brought up about 5 times in the past 1 1/2 months...

If you cared to search on forum, you'd know this.

Search "Drone control group". I did. Nothing there. If you have enough time to make repeated possible searches, I am sorry.

While I agree with the basic premise here it is also well known the search function here is lacking so fix the search function then you can complain because people do not use it.

That said the standard comment of if you do not like the topic then simply move on and ignore it applies here.
Hell you even missed the ever popular publicly patting ones self on the back for reporting something as redundant.
So I class your post as a total fail in all ways possible.

To the OP.
I am in complete agreement with having true drones groups and having them be more flexible since the current system does not allow for a drone to be in more than one group.

There are already hot keys to command your drones to attack, to return and orbit and to return to bay so I am not sure how your menu or buttons in the interface would be easier but I cannot see a reason that they should not be there either.

Not so sure about being able to set up groups while docked. No other weapons system in the game allows a player to group their weapons while docked and I see no reason why we drones pilots should be special in this way. Amend you proposal to allow for all weapons system to be group / un-grouped while docked and I would support that as well.
